I am an architect. i spend most of my time in front of the computer doing my job. Therefore, my neck was very painful in these years. actually, 6-7 years ago, i had a whiplash injury when i was in US. I had x-rays and it said my vertebre was displaced and required immobilization for 1 month. after the doctor took off my hard collar, my neck was extremely painful and stiff. Then i seeked for different kinds of treatments, such as acupuncture, Chiro and manual Physiotherapy. Seems like manual physiotherapy help me the most.
Unfortunately, My neck pain came back to me last year, this time, the pain even radiates all the way up to my skull which makes me feel dizzy. I went to a local medical centre for traditional acupuncture, however, it doesn't work at all. i am afraid going to the bonesetter because i had some bad experience before. So, I am looking for a manual physiotherapist in hong kong. Can anyone recommand some good manual physiotherapist to me please?
Thanks a lot.

You need a composite approach. Sadly, in whiplash, we know that immobilising the neck causes more pain, longer time to heal. Doctors in general do NOT treat backs or necks well. Your course of action should be along the following lines:
1. Deal with pain (Pain/spasm cycle needs to be broken) - a combination of NSAID and paracetamol is OK, consider also lyprinol ("green lipped mussel") and other essential fatty acids too.Massage and sauna can be helpful.
2. Correct posture: at a desk, working hard, you will NOT remember to hold yopurself correctly. A "swopper" chair or similar will force you to keep correct posture, and should be bought. Expensive, but worth it. Active measures like Pilates and chiropractic/manual therapy will assist too, in strengthening the muscles of posture and realigning.
Manual therapy - no recommendation, but for chiropractic you might try Heidi Petrick/Alex Ling in Central, and also the group around David Cosman, also in Central.

Hi, i think I am in the similar situation with you. I am a dental hygienist(10 yrs exp.) and having severe pain on my neck, my back, and my right hand because of my job...was going to give up my career while I went to see Dr. Wavely Chin, it works for me and he saves my life and my career, although I need to see him once a month now for maintance or when the pain is back, is still worth to feel like a normal painfree person for just a few days!! (I just accept the fact that I would never get rid of the damn pain unless I quit what I am doing now....)
If interested, call 28689328, he is Chinese from New Zealand, located at the Central Building.
Good Luck :)

Thank you for all the recommendations. however, One of my relatives suggested me to see a physiotherapist in central, her name is Margaret Tang. She is very cool and also very considerate to her patients. She explained to me everything about my diagnosis in details. After the first treatment session, i already felt >50% better than before. My dizziness was totally gone. I didn't get any dizziness in last week (I had it almost everyday in the past). I have been given manipulation, acupuncture and exercise. She does mainly manual therapy. Therefore, i think it is very worth to continue seeing her. I had had many many kinds of treatments in the past in US, Canada, australia, i would say she is the best physiotherapist that i have ever seen. I am so happy that i found her.
If everyone has the same problem as me, I would definitely recommend her to you. (Margaret Tang; tel: 2522-3211)
