a friend of mine needs surgery on his shoulder and is researching whether to do it here in HK or go back home to north america to take care of this. he's gone to adventist hospital and has spoken to people there. does anyone have any insight into the quality of surgeons here for this type of surgery? anyone recommend another hospital better than adventist for this?

I am usually an advocate that most non specialist can do most things...but shoulder are an exception.
The shoulder is one of the most complex joints and even if done right, the results are often not as good as one hopes and the rehab time can be quite extensive (one or two years is not uncommon). I suggest that whoever you find, you find a shoulder specialist...one who does nothing but shoulders.
