Got stung yesterday on my ankle by a wasp with yellow and orange lines on it. Hurt really badly for about 2 hours. Still hurts now but is swollen, hard to walk, red, hot to touch, itchy and makes my foot feel tingly. Guess it is due to lack of blood from swelling. Took antihistamine, used the anti bite stuff and toothpaste but still pretty sore. Any other recommendations? How long will the swelling last?

Ended up in the hospital getting a #%*@ load of medicine since the swelling was getting worse. My toes were getting yellow and my foot/ankle bright red, hot like a balloon. Kind of scary. Now 4 days later and still hard to walk on. Lesson learned, don't brush away anything until you make sure of what it is first.

Sorry! Which hospital, and what kind of doctor? Is it better now?

Clifford Hospital, dermatologist. It has been 4 days and still swollen, purplish/blue. It is slowly getting better but taking a long time. I am hopping around as it really is painful to walk on still. They gave me some sachels of powder to mix with water and drink but it was sooooooooooooo bad, I just can't do it. I am taking the other three pills they prescribed and the black paste for painting on the foot.

Just a thought but: try to increase the circulation through exercise plus elevate leg higher than heart, in order to get toxins out of tissue as fast as possible. If you're not going to take the meds offered by hospital, switch to benadryl or clarytine, continue the poultice tho and possibly benadryl or caladryl skin cream if you have some. I had a similar reaction this summer after being bitten by a wasp in USA. Mine took a few weeks to go away. Is the bite area infected? This is possible and if so antibiotics can help.
