Hello, My wife (pregant), baby daughter and I will be moving to HK in Jan. I have medical with my salary however we are hoping someone has some info, advice and suggestions as to the public and private systems in HK. Do they operate in a similar manner to Australia? Costs etc..??

Hi, we also came to HK from Oz. My husband has cover through the company for medical care. We have only had to use the GP so far with normal childhood ailments - sore ear etc. From memory the consult fees at an Xpat clinic (mainly British doctors) were about $100 Aust - I remember thinking it was expensive. We have not had to use a hospital so can't help with that. I would recommend you get some level of health cover included in your package.
