OB Gyne for fibroid treatment

hello,


is there anyone who could refer an ob gyne in HongKong who is good in treating fibroid w/o undergoing hysterectomy? I'm still single, & would like to have children in the future.Size of my fibroid is 12cm

I had my fibroid removed in 1996 by Dr Raymond Ng (tel: 2869-6222) and my mom had her's removed by Dr Chan Kuen Ting using keyhole surgery (tel: 2576-4422). Both surgeries were performed without a hysterectomy.

There are several methods to treat fibroids without needing to remove the uterus.


1. myomectomy, surgical removal of fibroid, either by conventional laparotomy or by laparoscopy "key-hole" surgery.

The approach would depend on the size and site of the fibroid.

women can plan their pregnancy 3 - 6 months after

surgery.


2. uterine vessel embolisation. -using injection

blocking material into blood vessels feeding the

fibroid, so that the fibroid is "starved" from

nutrient and subsequently shrink in size.

The advantage is this method does not require surgery, but it is not without complications and the effect on subsequent fertility is not clear.

If pregnancy is in mind, this method is not

recommended.
