I had my laser surgery done last August at the adventist hospital. I just had a recent check up and was told that my eyes had got worse and that my prescription was about 1. He had said that if it was 0.5 then it is ok but as it has got to 1 he can do another op later in the year. He has given me special drops to use for two months to see if that makes any difference but i am now worried. Obviously i have noticed that my eyes aren't seeing as clearly as they should be and am disappointed in the surgery i had but i am wondering if another op is a safe option. Has anyone had this done?

You should get a second opinion from an independant eye specialist. While you are at it, you should also find out whether there was any negligence in the initial op. Recommend that you find a foreign physician for the second part.

With the great technology of the latest intralase machines.... you're the first one I have heard with such problems after lasik.
I highly recommend you change your doctor right away, and agree with Neutral01, find out whether something went wrong with your operation.

Katetam, are you kidding me? My neighbor, who is a doctor, works in one of the public hospitals, deal with so many, yes, so many, patients who have from minor to serious problems after the surgery.

I can still see, just have a slight prescription of 1. I also had astigmatism which doesn't help but surgery does cure that too. I guess im just a little bit pissed that mine didn't seem to work as well as it should of. The doctors do tell you that they can't guarantee 20/20 vision but i obviously thought i would have. I will check out tha website Rubycat, thanks.

sylvialili, of course there are cases of "problematic" results after Lasik... even my doctor told me it's not 100% guarantee, but he said in his cases of more than 5000 patients in the last 3 years of Intralase, NO one under his care has had problems that were not reversible, AND no one under his care went under the surgery if he wasn't 90% sure of success rate.
You also shouldn't go to hospital for these lasik surgeries anyways...... more expensive, and they offered lasik surgery much later than private doctors....

Intralase is already MUCH safer and results better than traditional Lasik (the cutting one).... some of my friends (worse results) from intralase is halos for night vision (gone after 6 months), and very dry eyes.
I know over 30 people done by my doctor.... no problems except for dry eyes.
That's why I said first of what I have heard.... sorry, I meant among the people I know....it's unlucky for Kalia. Sorry to hear that.

kate, just to clarify things, the public hospital my neighbor works at DOES NOT offer these type of surgeries, the patients are sent there because of the problems after the surgery done elsewhere.
anyway, my sis has always wanted to go ahead but real chicken about the side effects. would you mind PM your doctor's details to me for her consideration? thanks

Katetam,
Yes, i would like details of your eye doc too so i can go and see him and get another opinion. Luckily i don't suffer from night halos just i think my astigmatism is back.
