Thinking of trying casual drugs

Not sure if this is this is the right place to post this, but...I have a girlfriend who sometimes uses 'casual' drugs. I'm tempted to try, but wondering is there really anything to worry about to try something just once?

Marijuana & Cocaine. Is it true that people can get hooked after the first try, especially cocaine?

why do you even want to try it? i think you will feel terrible after you try it.

marijuana is fine in my personal view. not very addictive at all (like cigarettes or alcohol) and easy to get off it. of course don't use in excess. i personally would recommend cooking some cakes. marijuana can be considered a 'casual drug'.

remember that it's illegal and you can go to jail for having it on you or consuming it.

cocaine is much harder and i would not recommend it at all 'just to try'. IT IS NOT A 'Casual Dug'. it's a hard drug and anyone who is casual about it, underestimates the medium to long term effects. it's called a hard drug because the addiction can kick in much quicker and once on, it's much much much harder to get off. not a risk i would go for 'just to try'. you won't be hooked after one try, but it doesn't take much more to get hooked. also depends how you take it (nose, cooked, etc.).

sally's comment above is of course completely wrong. different people have different reaction to different drugs. the reason people consume them is because it makes them feel good (though the after-effect can make you feel very bad - hangover anyone?).

last but not least, i would seriously question your intention on why you like to try it. it sounds a bit like peer pressure, and that's one of the worst reasons to 'try'. don't do it.

i've seen many cases of pot-induced psychosis in my practice.. even with short-term usage. some predisposed individuals go on to develop more serious form of mental illness like schizophrenia.

dependency on a illicit substance varies from individuals and also it correlates with the purity of the substance, in the case of marijuana, the psychological dependence is not to be underestimated.

I use the term 'casual drugs' because that's what my gf calls them. I don't smoke. I've heard of doing mj brownies, Although i've never heard my m8s talking about this. As someone said above, i guess it's slightly peer pressure, but at the same time i do want to try it, both mj & coke. Just once. As for coke, i didn't know you could cook it?! I'm more worried about that than MJ. When gf and mates do MJ everyone is chilled, having a nice time. When it's Coke, they all seem pretty worked up. I'm naturally a laid back guy so it may not affect me as much. I don't want my brain to turn into slush though. This w/end i know i will be faced with the opportunity to do both. I'm thinking i'll try mj, but coke - i don't think that's something i wanna do around so many ppl as i may freak out or something. Do quite a few people in HK drugs? Like, it's pretty normal to go out and do drugs?

Dear Justin, although this is only a forum, but just for your info, doing drugs in HK is an illegal concept. Thou should not attract unwanted attention...:P
