what are scabbies? or is there a medical term for this condition? is "scabbies" a slang term like "cuties" (refering to lice)?
what are the signs or symtoms of scabbies? how is it treated?

Scabies is a kind of STD which is transmitted through close, usually sexual, contacts.
It is treated by applying a lotion over the body over night. But the person should consult a doctor just to make sure no contact with other STDs. Scabies is very itchy.

i am pretty sure i got it from wearing clothes i bought from a street peddler. i bought some jeans and underwear from someone at a street market (night market). when i first noticed the infection/infestation i thought it was crabs (because of the location). i didn't see any actual lice but i saw what i thought were signs of crabs. i got treatment from a pharmacy and it seemed to releave the problem. but then it spread to other parts of my body and pooped back up in the original place.
so i saw a dr. and he told me "you got scabies my friend". "here smear this crap on your body from head to foot and leave on over night".
anyhow so i believe i didn't get it from sexual contact. but just because you "glove up" doesn't mean you won't get scabies or lice. latex condoms just prevent the exchange of body fluids. lice and scabies spread from skin to skin or hair to hair contact.

Scabies or lice. Not too uncommon in the region.
I find the attached UK information site very useful. Treatment is available from our clinics.

i saw a dr about my condition he gave me a 2-step treatment. the 1st step was a liquid application; which i had to apply with a small brush to the infested (itchy areas). but i appeared to have an allergic reaction to this ointment. the areas i applied it to became inflamed. i had someone translate the label for me and the 1st step application is some kind of sulfer compound. so maybe i was to anxious to relieve my discomfort and i was over zealous in the application and got a chemical burn or my skin (body) is not compatible for this ointment.
but the 2nd step was more comfortable for me. it is a save that seems to be some kind of mentholated treatment like "bengay" or "icy-hot". but it seems to be "doing the trick".
