Nosebleed and doctor

Sounds like my son. His nose starts bleeding for no reason. How old is your child? I took my son to an ENT specialist about 5 years ago and was told there was something in his nose which was thin (don't remember exactly what it was - too long ago) and was told he'd grow out of it.

An ENT specialist will cauterise the bleeding point under local anaesthesia.

The ENT specialist I went to did cauterise the thin site but it didn't do much good for my son - I think he was about 4 or 5 when this was done. My son is now 9 and seems to have "grown out" of it. I can't remember the last time he had a nose bleed. His nose bleeds used to be so frequent that he would just sit there and watch TV while holding a tissue and he didn't even bother to tell me about it.

If you're worried, take him to see an ENT specialist. If nothing, at least it will give you some peace of mind.

My son likes Dr Victor Wong at Dr Vio & Partners but he's not the doctor who performed the procedure.

My son also had frequent nose bleeds since a very young age (about 3 years old), especially when we go to places with indoor heating in the winter. His doctor, Dr. Maurice Leung, just prescribed a saline aqueous cream that we apply using a Q-tip every night. He is 10 now, and we stopped daily use of the cream since he was 8. Now we only use it in the dry season, such as autumn, and when we travel to Canada or other dry places. In fact, last winter we had only used it a few times. I think he has outgrown the problem now.

Actually, I had the same problem when I was young. My mom used to apply vaseline in my nostrils every night. I hated it, but it works.
