Acupuncture/TCM

I have been to a few accupuncturists and my favourite have been westerners in Chicago and a Thai dr in Thailand.

I've tried 2 here. One drew blood and broke a blood vessel so I looked like I had a huge hickey on my neck for 2 weeks and shedid not have any sort of healing touch.

Went to Helen He - she is in Dr Sue Jamiesons practice for facial uplift accupuncture and she is good but only works a few hours per week.

I had the most wonderful experience in Hua Hin in Thailand at the Chiva Som spa. The doctor was amazing. He also did hypnotherapy as I had gone to de stress and to improve my mood. It was amazing. Lasted about 6 mos.

If you find someone here that you do like, please post again.

Thanks

Acupuncture is very good for Insomnia, stress, anxiety. If what have been done seems ineffective, you should consider for another acupuncturist :

For a list of acupuncturist, pls take a look at the service directory of AsiaXpat :

The pain and drawing of blood would concern me and I'd try another source.

I have visited the Acupuncturist at Gaia Therapy, for insomnia and anxiety. There has never been any pain or blood, and I've had needles from head to toe. My symptoms have only improved a little; however, I have not yet completed the recommended number of sessions.

In the past I've also tried Zen Shiatsu for insomnia and digestive problems, with very positive results. This was in the U.S. and I haven't found a practitioner in Hong Kong.

FH,

I am a firm believer of TCM. I have regular accupunture sesssions for various things. It usually hurts everywhere the needle goes in - if the doc is not very good. My experience with a good doc is it only hurts where the REAL problem is - but not all over.

The other thing I find with muscle/neck/shoulder pain - I go for Chinese pressure point massage. I will be happy to recommend someone to you if you want to try. It may also help with your insomnia - if the pain is really bad in your hand then once that pain has beeb relieved you may be able to sleep better.

However, what you describe may be more related to stress than to insomnia - again i would recommend either a good massage or meditation.

With stress from work and TTC, I sometimes just take a couple of very deep breathes.

Take care,
