My friend's mum also under taking this medication, seems everyone will come across the weight gaining problem.
Did you consult with any Doctor? It's better for you to get advice from a professional. Do you see a GP or you see other specialist?
If not, I can ask my GP if he could help or not, and would send you his contact if he does.

I did a quick web search, and it seems like your problems with weight gain and withdrawal effects are widespread. Some people talk about cutting back on dosage gradually, which seems to lessen the side effects.
I would definitely consult your doctor though. It sounds like a pretty powerful drug, so you should get some professional advice.

Since gaining weight can cause depression, I'd ask you GP for something to treat your side effects as soon as possible.

I also had a friend go through this, she did seek advice from a GP and it took time nearly 18 mths but worth it. She reduced the dosage by one tablet a week over six weeks and once she reached 2 per week held it there for about 4-6 months. She then did not have a problem with the weight and then dropped again. Take it slowly.

I've been on Lexapro twice before. Both times when I came off I suffered some side effects. Anxiety and moodiness being at the top of the list. I reduced my dose gradually according to my doctors order but I still had side effects. I suggest you see your doctor who will help you come off the drug. Message me if you need a recommendation for a great GP here. I've found someone who is amazing helping me with my condition.

Hope you're finding you're able to come off Lexapro better now, with your doctor's advice. I found Lexapro was difficult to come off too and guess what? I took, I think 4 tablets over a period of 5 days and then stopped for a certain reason and before that, I'd been on Cipram, which is in the same family so I really didn't expect I'd have such trouble coming off the Lexapro. (Lexapro is supposed to have less side effects than Cipram as well!) A whole 2 weeks later and I was still feeling the effects of coming off Lexapro albeit less than before; dizziness, feeling kinda dazed and tiredness/major sleepiness. I was shocked as I'd only taken 4 tablets over a period of less than a week and my body was already used to it's parent drug, Cipram. The minute I took a quarter tablet of Cipram, the withdrawal symptoms cleared up - all I can say is that family of drugs are powerful!
