Hi - I would be very interested to hear from anyone who can recommend a very very good cosmetic dental surgeon in HK, particularly in bridge work. Many thanks!

Dr. Patty at the Costello Brothers in Coda Plaza is also supposed to be excellent. I think she is from LA (my g/f sees her), so she is very well trained. They have a website, you can google them.

Enough of the fear tactics....The reality is you get what you pay for....in HK or in BKK or where ever you decide to get dental care done.

Bottom line is that nowadays there are excellent, US trained dentists in HK. I have identified them and talked to loads of people who also use US trained dentists and have not had issues with them.

Now...they are not the cheapest in town. BUT, you have to do your research to recognize that US dentists are the only ones that have 4 years of undergrad education.....HKG, UK, and other countries don't require dental students to go to undergrad before entering dental programs. That is a fundamental difference and you can see it in the youthful pool of dentists in HKG. Would I let someone in their mid-20's cut on me? No way.

I also don't buy the line on some of these threads that you have to go to BKK to get work done....not true. Why would you pay (in monetary and time terms) for flights, hotel, transport, meals, etc. to go to BKK for dental work when you could use those funds to see a qualified (IMO, that means US trained) dentist here and stay in the comfort of your own home to recover......AND....the biggest reason is that you have a complication your doc is just a cab ride away. That is where the risk kicks in and it would be "very hard to fix if it's messed up".....think if you had to deal with a complication and your doc is in another country.

I moved here from NZ a few years back and am in the medical field my self. My personal and professional advice is to see doctors and dentist who qualified from abroad. Personally I have seen Dr Raymond Lee Pacific dental care in HIng Wei building central, and so far have been happy with his care.
