My husband recently had a back op with Dr Clarence Leung, a very positive experience with a great outcome. Have only heard good things about him.

Dr Clarence Leung is fantastic... after many years of back pain I thought was fromthe result of an accident he sent me for MRI and X-rays (in his premises) and was diagnosed with 3 prolapsed disks.

They have wonderful physotherapy available on the premises and such a professional business.. I would certainly recommend Dr Leung and plan to see him on a regular basis to monitor my back

Spondylosis means a degeneration of the spine. According to your report, it should be just a minor degeneration. Sometimes the Xrays just give you a piece of information. You should get your spine assessed by an orthopedic doctor or a physiotherapist. For most cases, physiotherapy will help and it should be the first line of treatments. Surgery will be the last thing you should consider or when all other conservative treatments have failed.

I am a physiotherapist based in Hong Kong. If you have further questions, you can message me.

Electrode, I have scoliosis and it is not true that there is no good chiropractor in HK. I go to see Dr. Tam in Sha Tin. He charges a very reasonable fee and the session lasts from 30 minutes to an hour depending on what treatment you need. My hubby had a sports injury several years ago and has been to a lot of physio, no one was able to find out what caused his pains not to mention that they charge a fortune! If you want6 to try Dr. Paul Tam, PM me and I will even come with you if you need me to. Cheers!

Hi Electrode,

I saw your post:

Finally I found a chiropractor in Shenzhen who was able to diagnose and treat me for the princely sum of $200 for the first session and then $900 for a course of 10. (That's $100 a 45 minute session)

So far I've had 13 sessions and for the first time in 5 years I'm pain-free, I don't need painkillers, my discs are back in place and my muscles are on the way to full recovery!

If anyone needs his details, message me.

I would really really appreciate the contact information. I live in Futian and I can not walk properly because of lower back pain. I have been regularly seeing a chiro in Canada for the past 10 years before coming to Shenzhen. Thank you!

please email it to: j.bonaobra@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Jay

I found an excellent assisted stretch specialist and I found them to be more benfitial than my physio and clinical Pilates rehab. Essentially she helps me stretch my neck and back, the first session I did with her I had no numbness in my hands that night when I slept for the first time in months. PM me if you would like her details ..... I have a herniated C5/C6 C6/C7 this is not replace your current rehab rather complement it ... that said I found the work I did with her better than all of my prescribed rehab

i messaged Electrode, it went through, lets see if he replies,

i also need a good chiropractic, tried HK chiropractics and found them to be thuggish,

charging minimum 400HKD for a 10 minute session, it helps for a day or two at most and then pain returns.

Why don't you go see a good physio. Spinal issues, depending upon the underlying problem, can often be managed in conjunction with your physio.

And dont go to one who only uses tools and doesnt use his/her hands and doesnt throw their weight into it.

Physios who work in a specialist orthopaedic practice will, inevitably, be superior, as they will work with the specialists for both preventative management and post operative rehab.

It isnt cheap, but if you have health insurance it should pay 70% or so of the bill.

I know I will get replies that specialists and physios dont work and only want to sell you an operation, and that some chiro or bonesetter or osteopath or herbalist can cure prolapsed intervertebral discs, degenerarive disc disorder or snap your malaligned chi (think that is like a body spirit or something) back into place.

But really, there is no substitute for at least getting a diagnosis or opinion from a mainstream clinical practitioner before trying other or alternate methodology.

I agree with maxis. Get your underlying problem figured out first then you can come up with your options. I had back surgery to fix an L4-L5 prolapsed disc but before that dealt with pain and sciatica for a year with all types of physios and chinese doctors. Chiro lessened severity of the pain but at the end did not really help. In hindsight I might have recovered with doing more exercise around my core, but I am happy with what i did end up doing. Can you give you my specialist if you PM me.

Justgorgeous can you give me some info on Dr Raymond Yip and your husband's surgery please?

I am looking at having anterior lumbar interbody fusion on my L5/S1 disc in January. Dr Yip treated me with a steroid epidural about 10 weeks ago when I herniated the disc.

After 12 years of problems I want to have the surgery before I leave Hong Kong in March. Really interested to hear about the experience and recovery time if you can share please.

Thanks so much!
