For the record, anybody care to share what the best first aid for an "overdose" of this very potent food seasoning is? Water? Anti-allergy pills?
Thanks!

Taurine of which Red Bull is a good source - but drink no more than 1.
Magnesium, Vitamin B6, CoQ10, Ibuprofen, Anti-histamines are all good glutamate blockers.

Hi evil, great I suffer from MSG all the time and just drink loads of water. When it hits my bones itch and I can't sleep. Will certainly try some of your suggestions.

This could be something very specific to me, but I find a Coke after an MSG-heavy meal helps a lot. The real stuff though, not Coke Light or Zero. Worth a try?

E621 is the code for MSG. I am very, very sensitive to itI'm out for the count for days with a migraine. If there is a fair amount, I will even be vomiting as well (not good on the head pain).
A way to identify if your food has MSG in it is to check the sauce the food is in. If it's quite thick and gluggy, then it's a very fair bet that it's laden with MSG. The best thing is to steer away from any dishes that come in a heavy sauce (unforunatley not easy in this country). MSG is in just about everything in this country, so it certainly limits my menu selection somewhat.

MSG is pissing me off. A bit of e621 or in fact any of the 6's doesn't bother me at all. Here in honkers though, I really have a hard time eating anything. I can only imagine the amount they must use. I had chicken rice and it was in the rice for crying out loud. Why?
I get palpitations, dizzyness, muscle tightness and have had enough. Arrrrggg. Sorry just ranting :) I will try Taurine though because as I said, Im finding it hard to eat here and I have had many days off work because I feel like a truck has hit me.

I thought the thickness in teh sauces is caused by adding corn starch to the sauce not MSG. One thing I look for is the shinyness of the food and unnatrual colouring

You are right with the unnatural colour and shinyness. Also the dish goes gluggier. When you use cornstarch it's more a smoother thickness like when you make a smooth gravy, but when you add msg is goes more globby, does that make sense? So similar to if you made gravy but left some lumps in it. Bloody disgusting stuff!
