Hi all,
I have to take a particular prescription drug regularly. If I wanted to check if this drug was available in HK how would I do that?
Is there a website I can visit or a doctor/govt department I can call and check with?
HK seems fairly advanced so I assumed up to this point I could get it (I can get it in Japan which is backwards when it comes to drugs). But with my impending move I would rest easier knowing I could get it in HK as well.
Thanks in advance.

I dont know about a government agency but.....
We can buy all prescription drugs over the counter from our local pharmacist (Sai Kung), if there is ever any confusion we write it down, they seem to supply an astonishing array of drugs that we would never be able to purchase over the counter at "home".
Good luck

Thanks for the info. I contacted a few doctors directly and found out I could get what I was after.
Any recommendations on A) an Australian doctor in Tuen Man (or anywhere in HK) or B) just a good GP in that area?
Thanks.

I'd say it's entirely dependent on what you feel comfortable with. Most local doctors speak very good English and have been trained in UK, Aus and US. As with most things you'll probably find the answer to your question once you have been here for a while. If I remember rightly on another thread you're looking at Gold Coast area so you will find many recommendations from others living there. Some expats will ONLY use expat doctors, personally I use local doctors and one in particular goes that extra mile over and above anything I've ever experienced from a western doctor either here or elsewhere in the world.
I know I haven't really answered your question, I suppose this is more a post to reassure you that you'll have no problems at all whatever route you take!

Which is good in itself! Thanks for the info. AsiaXpat generally has been an excellent research tool. When I first went to Japan as a single guy I did zero research. But now with a family relocating countries is a bit more serious so I like to "recon" as much as possible. In that regard you, AXPGUY and everyone else on the boards have been great.
A hearty thanks.
