Low sperm count doesn't mean its impossible to get someone pregnant, just harder. She's never going to know 100 % without a paternity test, but I reckon its Mr A's, surely a small chance is still higher than with someone who was wearing a condom.

I'm not a doctor, but here's few things to consider:
- a low sperm count doesn't mean a man can't father a child, although the chances are lower.
- a woman can still be pregnant, even if she gets her period.
- condoms are not 100% effective
- ultrasounds are very accurate these days. About 6 years ago, my flatmate got pregnant accidentally and didn't know if the father was her ex or her new bf. The ultrasound confirmed twins and gave the exact age of each embryo, to the week and number of days. Hers were not identical, because one embryo was 2 days older than the other one.
- regardless of whether your friend decides to abort or keep the baby, she'd be wise to get see a GP and get referral to get an ultrasound asap.
And the moral of this story is, have safe sex, love or no love.

Nothing confusing here, really (unless baby ends up looking like Mr.B!!):
1/ Condoms are 100% effective is used properly, so if they did, definitely not Mr.B's baby
2/ As stated above, low sperm count doesn't mean irrevocably sterile, far from it!
1+1= 3, a little family for Ms.T!

- low sperm count doesn't mean can't get a women prignant, after all only single sperm is needed to form an embryo.
-Mr. B shaged her at a time where she is still the list to say 5 days away from ovulation, and used condem, wise man! but even if he didnt use condom his sperm cant stay for more than 3day. 99% it can't be Mr B.
as for Mr. A , enjoying her all through golden period plus the ovulation period without condom, wow! definatly mr A is the dady, and if they had sex all through from aug22-sep3 most likly she is going to have a baby girl. congratulations to her.

maxferl, I'm curious, how did you come to the conclusion that the child is likely to be a girl?

Well I think I have no doubt that Mr. A is the father.
I've read so much about fertility because I have fertility issues so I think unless there's more to the story, Mr. A has to be the father.
A normal female ovulates around day 14 after the first day of her period (not the same for everyone but this is true in most cases). So if your friend has her period on the 15th, then 14 days should be the 29th. If she had sex around that time, the man she's with is the father.
Why do we rule out Mr. B? It's simple. You can't ovulate on the 20th if your period was on the 15th - that's too soon. Plus Mr. B used a condom. That's enough to rule out that Mr. B is the father.
Regarding sex of the baby, I think they say that if you have sex close to ovulation, you'll have a boy. If you have sex earlier, it's most likely a girl. Well, who knows? In reality it's 50/50 with the odds of having a boy slightly (and only just slightly)higher.
PS: Low sperm count does not mean no sperm count so yes, you can get pregnant still.

Geez, did anyone do biology in high school??? The odds of having a boy or a girl are pretty much 50/50, regardless of the time of month or dates that you had sex. It can be argued that during certain times of a woman's cycle, the lining of her uterus favours either the X or Y sperm (due to acidity levels etc), however, there is no way to be sure which. So to say the OP is going to have a girl just because she had sex between such and such a date (without doing any sort of tests etc) is rather ridiculous. Can't believe ppl are still so superstitious and believe old wives tales in the 21st century!

kaileyb, I am no expert on the odds of having a boy or girl but just wondering, have you ever heard of the Shettles method? You can read more on www.sexselection.co.uk. Again, I am not saying that I totally believe in the Shettles method but it can't harm trying for those who want a boy or a girl.
The shettles method is basically saying that the male sperms are smaller, lighter, faster and more fragile than the female sperms (which are heavier, slower, and heartier and tend to live longer). What this means is that if you want a boy, you can time intercourse as close to ovulation as possile so that the fast, light, male sperm can reach the target first. Shettles method was developed scientifically by Dr Landrum Shettles.
I'm not placing bets that it's a girl, however. I daren't make such assumptions. I think they say that if you want a girl, you are supposed to stop having sex 2 days before your Peak day.
Oh well, this is just for fun anyway.

Mr A it is by a full length!
repeated unprotected sex around the time of ovulation-no prizes for getting this one right
i would say he better start re-thinking his retirement plans
nice try by mr A with the old" low sperm count/i had a vascectomy it can't be mine" story

Agree with May C, Its well known that male sperm swim faster but female sperm last longer. So have sex a day or 2 before ovulation. and in theory the male sperm will die off, and a female sperm will last and swim to the egg, have sex on the day of ovulation then the boys sprint to the finish first...

When my husband and I planned for a baby, we just sex, sex and more sex in the hope of producing a baby. We didn't care if it was a boy or girl, as long as the bits and pieces are in the right place and was happy, healthy and safe.
As it turned out, we have a girl and now a boy, but we would have been happy for 2 girls or 2 boys. A child is a gift and a miracle, not a brand or a product.
