I have insurance with Allianz, chosen because of their maternity coverage. The obvious thing to do now I have my twins is to add them to my policy.... but given that Allianz is SO expensive and that I only chose it because of the maternity benefits, is this really the best thing to do in terms of cost and suitable coverage? I'll be getting advice from a broker but wanted to know what choices other people have made for their children and why. Please respond all you parents out there! I don't want to get a particular policy only to regret it later on. Also, what are the approximate costs for health insurance for children now? My babies are 6 months old and we've been back in the UK since they were born so I never bothered to get health insurance for them. It looks like we're moving back to Hong Kong though so I need to do my research. Thanks!

IHI has good coverage children under 11 free on your policy.

IHI has free cover under age 10, rather than 11...but adults have to sign to get this freeby..BUPA Int'l offers cover just for kids..but BUPA has traditionally raised its prices at least 10% pa and they raise prices each April and October!... After 10 years this makes a big hole in your wallet.
My company looked at Allianz, but decided against it as Allianz does not guarantee renewal and is really picky on claims, in the experience of some of my friends.. IF you do come to HK, suggest you contact RS Insurance Brokers - andrew@rsib.com.hk..I have Goodhealth, but if my recent experience in trying to deal with their switchboard and anonymous/nameless claims handlers is anything to go by, I sure will hope my company changes at next renewal. I feel we made the mistake to buy on price and we got just what we deserved.
