Mouthwash Bad for You

ORIGINAL POST

A friend informed me that his dentist told him that using mouthwash is very bad for gums and that it should not be used.

Seems to confirm this:

Cut out commercial toothpaste and mouthwash

Yes you heard that right, commercial toothpastes and mouthwash contain several irritants that can make your teeth and gum problems 10 times worse, Opt for a natural toothpaste that doesn’t contain fluoride or SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) such as Oram Plus

A dentist once told me to avoid the mouthwashes that contained alcohol - most do. I'll check out Oram Plus but if it tastes horrible then I'll continue to live dangerously with Colgate.

I also use organic toothpaste. It does not contain the chemical SLS, so it is not as much bubbles as you use other commecial toothpaste. It taste quite good and fluriode free, it like it much more than the commerical ones.

let's face it...there is absolutely no need to use mouthwash.

If you brush your teeth with a natural/herbal toothpaste, you are doing enough for your gums and teeth.

The majority of personal care products are just a waste of money, and most of them are unnecessary and even harmful.

I use Thursday Plantation's Tea Tree toothpaste (no fluoride) and occassionally (very) the mouthwash. All organic. My child uses the toothpaste too.

Which Hong Kong shops do carry those natural toothpastes? I don't want to buy online.

You know, who do you trust? The concerns or some website who says commercial products are evil and have links to some natural product on their website.

Seems like you can trust no one, call me "spooky mulder"

How about that:

fluoride is toxic waste, nice one.

Just good that the "healthy" organic toothpaste also uses fluoride:

So what now, guess we're all doomed. Let's smoke, drink and brush our teeth with "nutella" instead!
