Giving Birth in HK...

ORIGINAL POST

Hi all,

We are considering having another child and our original plan was to fly back to Australia for the birth as we are more comfortable being in our home country. We had a horrendous experience having a baby in Japan and as close to painless in Australia as I imagine as it gets.

However before we decide to go that route has any foreigner had a baby in HK? If so what was your experience? Good? Bad? Any recommendations on a good OBYGN/GYNO and what did it end up costing for the actual birth?

Thanks in advance.

maybe you can elaborate on what went wrong in japan and what was good in aus, then it would be easier to comment on the things that matter for you?

Also, maybe post your questions on the pregnancy/parenting sections instead of here as I think you will get more responses. In HK the cost varies greatly depending on whether you go public or private. Do you have insurance? If you do a search on the pregnancy and parenting sections you should find a number of threads on pros and cons of going public vs private. LOTS of expats have babies in HK.

Happy to help with any specific questions. I had a baby here 18 months ago.

If you would like to take a look around a private hospital to get an idea of the standards you can call our client relations manager, Inty, on 2849 0355 for a tour. There is also a useful section on our website of questions to ask.
