What about an Army surplus website? Seriously. Like a gas mask used for Chemical/Biological attacks. I have never looked for something like this myself, but its a thought. You'll look really scary but I would think that would filter out particulate matter. Not sure how often you would have to change the filters.

You mentioned smells so you need chemical filtration. If you mentioned particles then you need a hepa filter based mask.

you can buy a 3M mask with 2 cartridges on the sides that use carbon to remove gas pollutants. some of them even have hepa filters to trap most respirable pollutants. It is used in car paint booths where there is limited outside air and no ventilation. It works on a positive pressure principle and is even used in confined space applications. Its about HKD 150 to 300 and usually available in most specialised hardware stores. when you breathe out its flaps let the air out using a one way valve. When you breathe in it brings in the air through the 2 cartridges the size of a HKD 5 coin. I have used it myself and very common when working on fibreglass, wood or paints.

we used to get some from canada about 15 years ago from a manufacturer called breatheasy. Its v v simple to make at home . All you do is take 2 disposable masks (the 5 to 10 $$ ones ) and put a fabric of activated carbon cloth in between them. You then staple or glue the edges. It removes SMELLS. It can last about 1-2 weeks.

Hi, there is a guy who set up this RESPRO pollution mask business in BJ some time ago, here is the website's URL:

You'll find the "recreational type" you are after.

I am planning to buy one next month. More than needed here, especially when the temperature will rise.

Happy and pollution-free New Year to you all.
