counselling or life coach?

Hello,

I have searched the internet and am still sort of lost. What is the difference between counselling and life coach? I seem to fit between both.

Am looking for something not too costly as I don't have a job, any suggestions will be great!

Has anyone tried the St Johns counselling service?

Thanks

The way I understand it is, counseling (i.e., psychotherapy) focuses on your past while life coaching focuses on your future. I am a senior exec that does life coaching as a hobby, for free, for my friends and their friends. I would love to leave the corporate world someday and become a full-fledged life coach. In the meantime, if you're comfortable with it, PM me your situation and maybe I can give you some free advice or guidance. Or post it publicly and I'll answer publicly. In any case, lots of luck to you.

Im seeing a counsellor at the moment and it doesn't focus on your past life. It seems to be that you present a current problem and they look at what the issue is and you figure out together how to resolve it. It's very practical. I'm sure they would look at your past if you wanted to but its very not specifically all about the past

Hi mhn527,

Thanks for your reply. I'm sort of stuck in my past and seem to find it hard to move forward even though I have tried. I always seem to end back, at the start. Could be I am not trying hard enough.

Will be sending you a pm.

thanks again

Hi Alexandra,

Thanks for your reply. Would you mind telling me where you go for counselling or is they have a website I can check out. I just don't feel comfortable talking to strangers, however I need to focus and get my life back in order.

Good luck to you and hope all works out well.

Hi Bettertimes,

Not sure if you still need this info. I have a friend who do life coaching and not charging much. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks

Try St Josephs. They charge on your work status, so if you're not working then it will be considerably cheaper than if you are. Call them up and tell them what you want to talk about and they will direct you to an appropriate counselor. I reckon everyone should have someone they can sit down with and totally unwind and not be judged.

Pascale at Holistic Central is great! Super easy to talk to, and very intuitive!

She will surely motivate you and help you to move forward!

As for the Yuen Method, Julien is a practitioner in the same clinic!

You can reach them at Holistic Central, on Queen's road: 2523-8044
