When I see a packet of malaria pills I think of that famous Clint Eastwood line from Dirty Harry, delivered as he pointed his .44 magnum at a bank robber and neither of them could remember how many shots he had fired, or whether there was still one left in the chamber. "The question you have got to ask yourself is: do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?" Actually, I do. Lucky enough not to have to take the nasty, expensive little things on my periodic visits to Africa and other malarial parts of the world. Now I find myself being asked to reconsider after X Factor star Cheryl Cole's unpleasant encounter with a mosquito in Tanzania. Such is the power of celebrity.

Excellent Post Ed.
I'd like to try that, i think if the immune system is strong enough?
I don't who Cheryl Cole is, but since you mentioned "celebrity"
I believe being a celebrity she probably has to put with an extremely weak system.
i mean, Drinks, and i won't say the rest. Drinking is good enough or bad enough

CONFIRMATION: YES, VITAMIN C FIGHTS MALARIA
On March 5, 2003, the Doctor Yourself Newsletter ( http://www.doctoryourself.com/news/v3n8.txt ) suggested a novel approach for treating malaria, a disease that kills over two million people annually, mostly children: have all malaria patients take megadoses of vitamin C.
I am very pleased to report that recent research has now validated this hypothesis.
"Falciparum malaria infection is associated with significant destruction of erythrocytes. This leads to the release of toxic metabolic products, including oxidant compounds. We measured the serum concentration of the antioxidant, ascorbic acid, in 129 patients presenting with acute falciparum malaria infection and in 65 healthy individuals. . . (A)scorbic acid plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of acute falciparum malaria in adults. Infected children also need to be given supplemental doses of ascorbate in view of the weakness of their immune system." (Hassan GI, Gregory U, Maryam H. Serum ascorbic acid concentration in patients with acute Falciparum malaria infection: possible significance. Braz J Infect Dis. 2004 Oct;8(5):378-381. Epub 2005 Mar 17. ) Though not affiliated with the above authors, we have actually been field-testing this idea for over ten years. In the early 1990's, I presented the megadose-vitamin-C concept to some of the missionary Sisters of St. Joseph based in Rochester, NY. The result was published in the Jan. 5, 2003 DY News http://www.doctoryourself.com/news/v3n4.txt :
"Vitamin C is now part of the daily lives of the Myky tribe in Brazil’s Goias rainforests, thanks to the efforts of Sister Suzie Wills, SSJ and a number of other Sisters of St. Joseph. Suzie has been very effective in getting native people eating not only citrus fruits and berries, but also taking C powder and tablets on a regular basis. She reports healthier children and babies, and that infant mortality has dramatically decreased. Sister Suzie is now at Olinda, near Recife, Brazil, but is soon expected to be headed to back to Goiania."

Tell you what...
Why don't you purposely infect yourself with one of these fatal diseases (rabies, falciprum malaria, polio, etc...) then you treat yourself with vitamin C or whatever ... then come back and tell us about it...
Please support our advertisers:
Would you believe me if I did?
I’ve already told you I stepped on a rusty nail (not intentionally) - didn’t get a tetanus shot - and did not get lockjaw as a result of the 12,000 –16,000 mg of vitamin C I intentionally take every day. Do you believe that?
That fact, and the abundant research attesting to the powers of ascorbic acid is proof enough to me that I don’t have to intentionally infect myself with the diseases you mentioned to prove what has already been proven.

Nah... how about you tell me you already had lock jaw and cured it with vitamin C? Rusty nails are not guaranteed to give you tetanus ya...
Better still... since you are supremely confident... let's go with something like falciprum malaria... and you can't tell us you got a mosquito bite and took vitamin C so didn't get malaria...
You need to be in the death throws of this brutal type of malaria... then you take your vitamin C and let us know how it turns out....
Then you can give Bill Gates a call.. the guy who is spending many millions of his own money trying to cure malaria... let him know of your amazing low cost treatment...
I am sure he'd welcome this because they he could stop wasting his money and direct it to some other disease...
What's that you say - he should just keep his money? - ah yes, I suppose that is true... vitamin C cures everything so why waste time on medical research, drugs, hospitals... all those silly things...

Let me see if I’m understanding you correctly, ed ........
With your very own eyes you saw a documentary of how Vitamin C alone allowed the full recovery of a New Zealand man seconds away from death, who was afflicted with swine flu, white out pneumonia, and tuberculosis .... but ......
you don’t accept that.
Eminent researchers, all over the world, with Ph.Ds, M.D., J.D., and RN behind their names publish their vitamin C findings in scientific journals .... but .....
you don’t accept that.
Those same eminent researchers put their names on books for the entire world to challenge – if they can - any flawed vitamin C claims .... but ....
you don’t accept that.
Despite all of the above which you dismiss (without giving reasons why), you’re telling me that in order for you to “accept” the power of ascorbic acid you need the word of an anonymous internet person to convince you?
Have I summed up your position correctly, ed? If I haven't, please clarify what I’ve got wrong.
And regarding your Bill Gates comment ...... exactly WHY are you concerned how Bill Gates spends his money? Have you got a vested interest in seeing that he spends his money according to your requirements?
----------------------------------------------
The following is a bit of humor/sarcasm to make a point I hope that is appreciated regarding the absurdity of ed's request ....
“Nah... how about you tell me you already had lock jaw and cured it with vitamin C?”
Ok ........ ed, I already had lock jaw and cured it with vitamin C. Do you believe that?
”Better still... since you are supremely confident... let's go with something like falciprum malaria... and you can tell us you got a mosquito bite and took vitamin C so didn't get malaria...
”
Not a problem ---- a mosquito bit me, I developed falciprum malaria but cured it with vitamin C. Is this easier for you to accept, ed?
What other diseases would you like for me to claim ownership of that was cured by vitamin C?

Pics or it didn't happen.

I’m not in Hong Kong so can’t help with that one. Perhaps the health foods stores carry ascorbic acid?

What I'd like to see is a doctors certificate indicating someone had rabies or falciprum malaria... took no treatment other than vitamin C ... and was cured.
You willing to bet your life on this?
Then and only then will I accept that your claims could be true.
Interesting... you say that the medical profession prevents the acceptance of such treatments... well the vitamin business is a massive industry... surely if vitamins were a cure for rabies, cancer, polio, malaria...
We would be seeing huge ad campaigns telling us to take vitamin C when we come down with these fatal diseases...
Tell you what... I will even give you a commission if you introduce a vitamin supplier to take such an ad on our site...

"What I'd like to see is a doctors certificate indicating someone had rabies or falciprum malaria... took no treatment other than vitamin C ... and was cured."
And until you see that, all the scientific research that’s ever been done on vitamin C is to be dismissed as fakery and of no consequence, right?
"You willing to bet your life on this?"
If I had those diseases, you dang right I would bet my life on it. But if you think I’m going to intentionally infect myself with those diseases FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF CONVINCING YOU --- well, you need to be in a mental institution.
"Then and only then will I accept that your claims could be true."
Understand this, ed ....... they are not “my” claims. They are the claims of scientists and doctors conducting scientific research. The universal behavior for not accepting scientific research is ....... to offer counter scientific research. Where is your research dispelling the vitamin C claims?
"Interesting... you say that the medical profession prevents the acceptance of such treatments..."
If you doubt that, how then would you explain the situation described in this article, as an example ...
http://uncensored.co.nz/2010/08/22/new-zealand-medical-authorities-continue-to-ignore-a-potential-cure-for-swine-flu/
"We would be seeing huge ad campaigns telling us to take vitamin C when we come down with these fatal diseases..."
Yeah, right ........ just like we’re currently seeing huge ad campaigns proclaiming how vitamin C cured swine flu, right?
"Tell you what... I will even give you a commission if you introduce a vitamin supplier to take such an ad on our site..."
Not interested.

Where is this research? You haven't shown any peer reviewed double blinded clinical trials. I now claim that doing the hokey pokey cures AIDS, where is your proof that it doesn't?
"Yeah, right ........ just like we’re currently seeing huge ad campaigns proclaiming how vitamin C cured swine flu, right?"
You see, the problem is, there is no evidence that it does cure swine flu. Since there is no evidence, it is ILLEGAL to advertise that it does. If there was proof that vitamin c cures any of these things, manufacaturers would be jumping all over it. They aren't, because there is NO EXTRAORDINARY EVIDENCE to back up this EXTRAORDINARY CLAIM.
