Cockroaches

I was horrified today when a loaf of bread I bought contained a large live cockroach. Is this a common occurence in HK? The shopkeeper seemed completely unfazed by it, but there must be a health risk.

I was appalled. Yuk.

Anybody experienced anything similar?

That's gross.


I would have called the government and made a complaint to the Hygiene Department - or whichever department is the right one. The government should check their premises. Food premises should be kept to a certain standard!

I have sent an email to the Food Hygiene Dept advising them of my find.

I also emailed the company themselves for an explanation. It will be interesting to hear their response.

Hopefully the govt. has enough resources that they can do a random spot check on the premises! That will teach them a lesson!
