Hi,
I had the misfortune of rupturing my achilies tendon playing football last week.
Unfortunately as I have only been in HK for 3 weeks (I am a resident and will be here long term) there was a mix up at work re my health insurance so was taken to and had the op at the Pamela Youde hospital on the HK equivelent of the NHS. Im in plaster for 6 weeks but they didn't really give me much info or advice at all and were more interested in just freeing up the bed I think. Now that my insurance has confirmed I'm covered, I wanted to find a good specialist and get the best post op care possible.
Has anyone had a similar injury or can anyone recommend any docs or next steps I should take as being this new here, I'm a little lost to be honest!
Thanks in advance

Hi there,
Since you are now on a plaster, you just need to wait until the tendon heals itself. However, you may still experience some pain and regular physiotherapy will help.
Physiotherapy at this stage may include exercises for your good and bad limbs and also electrotherapy to control the inflammation/pain/ to promote the healing. After the removal of the cast, you will need more intensive rehabilitation to get back to full function. Good rehab is the key!
Take care
