What is a good remedy for anxiety? Not to the point of having anxiety attacks, but having a relatively constant low feeling and easy to worry about things that really don't need worrying about...

The only stimulants that I have in my life are one cup of coffee of a morning and a couple of beers at night...diet is fairly normal yet I still seem to have this pent up unpleasant feeling...

Anything natural that could be taken to surpress this feeling?

Job - all good.

Family - all good.

House - all good.

So yes, everything in my life is OK which is why this is even more annoying - there doesn't seem to be any tangible reason as to why....

Hi hinton,

I think it really depends on your present circumstances but I suggest that you check if you are magnesium deficient as it seems a lot of us (around 70% of Americans according to recent research) don't have enough of it from modern food consumption these days. It may interest you that magnesium is an essential mood regulating mineral.

I do a lot of sweating due to lots of exercise in hot HK and I couldn't understand why I still felt grumpy, then added magnesium into my diet recently, feeling better and I do have more energy.

BTW do your own research because I'm no expert but it may be a chemical thing going on with your body, which is why I'm speaking out. :)

Magnesium ingested.....will wait and see. The last couple of days have been better, but I am wondering if that is just me wanting to believe that the magnesium is making a difference. Either way...better must be better.

Hi Hinton

Even though getting a placebo effect from taking supplements can be a positive thing, taking a few magnesium tablets don't work that way. It may take a few months to a year before you notice a real difference as your body is building the mag levels to healthy levels.

After a months I swear I'm more energetic, my thinking is less cloudy but this is my personal experience only so take with it what you will.

Good luck!

Hi Hinton,

Anxiety ,depression and insomnia are getting more common in nowadays Hong kong when life is so stressful here. Vitamin D deficiency has been proved to be the reason behind scientifically. Indeed, everyone of us should take 5000iu /day of vitamin D. (This is what your doctors not telling you) .

Naturally, we can get vitamin D from sunbathing. To maximize the function of vitamin D , we need to have an alkaline diet as well.

To know more about vitamin D, check it out on fb : vitaminD council

I hope it works for You

Cheers~

Don't be quick to self medicate!

Certainly vitamin deficiencies can have certain effects, but so can a lot of things. Frequently we are taking supplements etc that we don't need. The best thing to do is to request a blood test from your GP to find out if you are deficient in anything, and a general checkup to make sure there are no underlying medical issues.

Anxiety can also be psychological (frequently is), and while you say everything is ok (and it probably is), there might be long standing underlying factors that contribute to your uneasy feeling. Should there be no nutritional deficiencies or medical reasons, a therapy like hypnotherapy can really benefit in dealing with anxiety.
