Regarding The Atlantic’s sweeping hit piece on Linus Pauling, vitamin C, and vitamin supplementation, one would think that SOMEBODY at that publication would know that there is a specific way of presenting scientific references. The following examples shows the proper format ......

ARE VITAMINS TOXIC?


Comprehensive studies have demonstrated that taking vitamins increases your risks of cancer, accelerated heart disease and resulted in higher mortality rates.


In 1972 the F.D.A. announced a plan to regulate vitamin supplements.


Not surprisingly, the vitamin industry saw this as a threat, and set out to destroy the bill. In the end, it did far more than that.
