Not to be rude, but the above is the hocus-pocus "feel good" method that likely won't even solve your problem. Yoga has its uses but weight loss is not one of them.

If you want to lose weight it's the same for everybody and it involves one simple requirement: eat fewer calories than you use. Most people tend to go straight for the "eat less" path but that only works for a week at best before bad habits takeover. Better is to steadily decrease the sugars (sweets, candies, sodas), creams (ice cream, milk, cheese), fats (burgers, fast food, fries) etc while simultaneously jogging at least three times a week.

Furthermore there is no way to decrease fat in only one part of the body - there is absolutely no exercise that specifically targets removing fat from a part of the body - it is all shed or gained together.

Don't wuss out and settle for any "feel good" solutions like crash dieting or those ridiculous butt wobbler machines in the gym. Steadily decrease the high calorie elements of your diet (don't go cold turkey, that never works) and tomorrow start jogging for 20 minutes in the morning or night.

You will not see any results for a few weeks and when you do it'll still feel so minute and irrelevant, but keep it up for 3 months and if you've been serious about it then you'll start seeing some positive results.

Good luck.

And because I didn't intend to blast yoga overall, I do recommend it for women who are looking for relaxation and / or body toning and flexibility.

Hey gals, do you rarely exercise and sit a lot?I also had a pear shape before coz I hv a huge desire for food. But I had reshaped my body by having proper dieting menu (which is approved by my Doctor of TCM), Chi-Med and doing exercise.

Don't take those dangerous pills - don't be stupid and fall for ridiculous marketing traps.

The solution to weight loss can be found for zero dollars investment and nobodies help. Get outside and jog at least three times a week for 20 minutes each and eat less food. Simple. Slowly wean yourself off the types of foods I mentioned. Do not try to fully 100% avoid them - that is unnecessary and will backfire. Just gradually reduce the amount and increase the aerobic exercise.

No more advice needed. No more research to be done. Don't go buy those stupid pills, don't go buy dieting books or health advice. Dont go waste your money on a gym membership. Just walk outside and jog around the block a couple times. This stuff is simple and you don't need to throw your hard earned money away on bs "feel good" traps.

Here's the thing... it takes hours on a treadmill to burn off a 1000 calories...

Not many of us have hours to spend (or the desire) exercising...

So the best way to lose weight is first of all to cut down on the calories... cut out all processed foods ... all junk ... soft drinks... get anything that contains fructose out of your fridge and throw it in the trash... eat nothing that comes out of a can

Eat more vegetables... lean meats... nuts... some fruits...

Then when you shop - don't buy any of these unhealthy/high cal things... so that when you do crave a snack it's not there...

If you are unsure what is good and not good (for instance lots of people think fruit juice is good - it's not except in small amounts and fresh only) I suggest you visit a nutritionist...

And of course exercise... intensively for 3 or more times per week... if you are unable to push yourself - I suggest you join PURE fitness... the instructors know there stuff there... if you tell them to push you they will run you ragged and you WILL lose weight quickly (if you combine that with a good diet) ... at the end of each session you will feel awesome!

Stay off the pills - those are poison (there are no short healthy short cuts... keith richards is thin but we all know how he gets that way) .. and good luck!

I'm trying to understand what exactly is your problem !

You mention that you are sick of your fat butt. This could imply 2 problems with different solutions.

The first (and the one obvious to most) is that you want a smaller butt

The second is that you are not happy with your current butt

So, which is the actual issue here. Now, I recognise that these 2 issues are not mutually exclusive and independent but nevertheless, it is important to differentiate between them and ask yourself which is really causing you concern

If you are concerned with a big butt and simply want a smaller butt, then discipline, diet and exercise are your only options

If however your concern has to to do with how your big butt makes you feel either inferior or unattractive, the the solution may be to simply hang out with fatter people with larger butt's than yours

In summary, understand the root cause of your problem before seeking a solution, afterall, one solution is much easier to achieve than the other

what's wrong with your butt? women with butt are attractive. take the fat out, quite difficult to achieve that, if you have a boyfriend, ask him to massge it daily. or built up the muscle in your butt so it could eliminate some ft, but you always need fat, so can't take it all out. worse case, go to a taylor or have your pant adjusted to fit your butt.

for men, butt is attractive but don't let it fall and overpower the other parts of your body.

As everyone else said the only way to lose weight is diet and exercise. Theres no magic pill or secret formula, it takes hard work and dedication, thats it.

Your diet should focus on lean meats (chicken, eggs, turkey, fish, and occasionally beef), vegetables especially green leafy veggies (spinach, broccoli, green beans, snow peas, carrots, etc), use fruits to control your sugar cravings, have an apple instead of a cookie, most people cant eat a dozen apples. How many cookie can you eat? limit carbohydrate consumption, your body needs carbs for energy, but most people over consume carbs because they taste good. Focus on whole grains (brown rice, steal cut oats, quinoa, etc) avoid processed carbs like white bread, white rice, pastas, etc. Drink lots of water, you should drink at least 4 liters of water a day.

Stop drinking alcohol, all alcoholic beverages are loaded with empty calories and sugars, if you must drink limit yourself to vodka sodas and drink in moderation.

Avoid sugary and oily sauces, most people think eating a salad is healthy, it can be, but not when you load it with a gallon of caesar dressing. For a healthy alternative use a teaspoon of olive oil and a dash of red wine vinegar.

Cook your own food, prepare meals 3-4 days in advance, take a lunch to work, eat dinner at home. Make sure you have a cheat meal once in a while, dieting sucks, but having something to look forward to makes it worth it. I schedule 2 cheat meals a week, Saturday nights and Wednesday lunches. Count calories, there are a million apps that do this.

Exercise, if you can reach a destination in 20 minutes or less, walk. Buy a pedometer, 2000 steps is one mile, you will be surprised how fast the miles add up.

Schedule workouts, just like you schedule meetings at work, set a time every day that you plan to exercise and don't be late. Your workout should be built around you current level of fitness, push yourself, but don't over exert, you don't want an injury. Weight training will not make you bulky and manly, light weight and high reps has a fat loss benefits. Do intense cardio for 20-45 minutes 3-4 times per week. Go for a run, ride a bike, use the elliptical, go swimming, there are a million ways to burn fat.

Set goals, buy those pants that just don't quite fit, find a friend with similar goals to workout with and keep each other motivated. Take photos of yourself every week to track your progress.

Avoid supplements, fad diets, and the latest and greatest workout programs, they are a waist of money. There is no substitution for hard work.

Getting fit is a lifestyle, it takes hard work and dedication. Own your body, only you have the power to change it.

Its kind of tea with small red bean, poria cocos and plantain seed as main ingredients.it's all natural and of course healthy! u know Chi-med always put strong emphasis on good health. My doctor told me we can lower the appetite by clearing the stomach heat. If you can do suitable amount of exercise, it would be perfect for sliming the hip even whole body.

Reanna: Yes, fruits do contain sugars, but the sugar found in fruit is not the same as the highly process sugars that are found in sodas or sugary snacks. If your diet is focused on low carbs you should be more concerned about the carbohydrates found in fruits than the sugars. Many fruits have excellent health benefits, for example cherries help to reduce inflammation, blueberries help prevent aging. Heres a really good reference of the benefits of different fruits: http://www.canadianliving.com/health/nutrition/top_25_healthy_fruits_blueberries_apples_cherries_bananas_and_21_more_healthy_picks.php

When trying to reduce the amount of junk food someone consumes I like to use the following example comparing chocolate chip cookies and apples, one apple is roughly the same caloric value as one cookie. Think about how many cookies you can eat at one time, personally I can probably eat at least a dozen. Now think about how many apples you can eat at one time, usually one apple will satisfy the same hunger craving that 6-8 cookies will. By replacing those cookies with an apple you will satisfy your hunger cravings while at the same time consuming less calories.

I not sure what you mean by you appetite being too good, but if you find your constantly snacking through out the day you don't necessarily need to stop just change the foods your snacking on. For example replace a bag of chips with a cup of baby carrots or a handful of cherries. Consuming 5-6 small meals is actually better for curbing your appetite and increasing your metabolism than eating 3 large meals, spread your meals out, try to eat something every 2-3 hours.

One thing I forgot to mention in my previous post was about nuts, nuts are an excellent source of healthy fats, you should consume in moderation and make sure that you are buying nuts that have no sodium. Most of the nuts found in supermarkets are loaded with salt which everyone should avoid.

fruits are good for health (not in fluid form), even sweet, the stomach has time to digest it and so sugar will get into the blood stream for a longer period of time (unlike juice) and so the body has more time to consume it.

when talk about sugar, it's important to know that it is all relative to your metabolism and how fast you eliminate from your body. sugar is the fuel for the body and brain so it is necessary to have sugar but as anything else must be consumed in moderation.

basically you can eat anything you want as long as you don't exagerate the quantity and beside processed snacks which for me are "chemicals", pay attention to two important substances: sugar and oil. use olive oil.

your body is like a reservoir tank, fill it too much and it will spill all over! it all depends on the dosage. know your daily activity and so how much your body will need in calories and then eat accordingly.

for diet, it's better to have this approach then purely eliminating food or use pills. eat as usual (and eat anything, your body and your palate needs variety, otherwise life would be so boring) but modify quantity if required but in order to do that, you must be able to identify and know what you will eat and how much calory they will bring.

Fionsha,

First off, you have to understand the your body type and shape, big butt - is it naturally wide in the pelvis or it's flab and saggy?

Exercise - slow aerobic exercise is awesome for improving cardiovascular fitness and exercise-to-fat-adaptation, while high intensity training helps improve VO2 max and general fat metabolism.

Weight training - to increase muscle mass and/ or endurance depending on your training, it is also used for body sculpting. Therefore, if you have a flat butt, doing squats, deadlift, hip thrusts, etc will build muscle around hips and improve the appearance.

If you are sitting down a lot, you simply aren't engaging in the gluteus (buttocks) and they become flabby in time.

Diet - cut down processed food and sugar and replace it with protein, such as eggs, lean meat, etc and good fats, i.e. nuts and seeds, avocado, etc, assuming you have no known food allergies.

Fructose - our body burns glucose prior to fructose as energy, it, therefore, is stored as fat especially around the belly and hips if consumed in excess.

Hope it helps.

To be honest, I don’t know if the menu works on you, but in my case, it works. Chi-med always concerns abt personal status... you know, the doctor will give different advices for different person.

As for Stomach heat, it appears when we eat and drink a lot. There will be excessive Qi and blood, which eventually turn into fat. Actually, I hv also tried acupuncture. I think it really do a great job in losing weight.

I always wonder what type of person falls for these absurd medical scams like diet pills or Chinese medicine, but now I know.

Stick needles into your skin to lose fat from your butt? Drink tea to remove "qi" from the stomach? Oh boy.

I guess you'd rather just pretend to solve your problems with bogus "feel good" solutions rather than do the work necessary to get true results. It's so convenient that all these feel good solutions always require minimal effort (drink this, eat that, stretch in yoga, lie down and let me put these mystical oriental needles in you) and require expensive practitioners to assist you. Much easier to pay someone to "solve" your problems through endless memberships, acupuncture treatments and drink plans rather than just get off the couch and jog around the block. I of course put the word solve in quotes because there is less than zero probability that acupuncture is going to cause weight loss.

Snake oil salesmen abound.

I was overweight for many years (despite trying many fad diets and other quick fixes like diet pills) but one day I decided to make a change. I went to see Dr Ardyce Yik, a registered naturopathic doctor, who practices at the Integrated Medical Institute in Central. I did her weight loss programme called Weight Loss 2.0 and I lost over 16kg in 3 months (it's now 6 months on and I have kept off the weight).

It was actually pretty effortless - you are given a meal planner and loads of recipe suggestions for the first 2 months of the programe and you do 30 mins of aerobic exercise 5 times a week (doing some weight training also promotes muscle growth and aids fat loss).

I also did a food allergy test and discovered that I have a wheat intolerance. Cutting out wheat from my diet has dramatically improved my energy levels and I generally feel much better than before.

Good luck to you.

fionsha,

I would like to offer a suggestion you’ve probably not heard of, let alone considered. It’ the easiest, most natural and effective way of losing weight and maintaining your health.

Absolutely no exercise required, and, you can eat as much as you want, when you want.

The only requirement is ............... you must eat your foods RAW ----– no cooked/processed foods.

Shocked, are you?

Consider the following .......

Humans are the only species on the planet that eats its’ food cooked. And, as a result of that fact, humans are the sickest spices on the planet. We are plagued with about 4,000 diseases. The vast majority of them are diet related.

However, all the other spices on the planet -- eating their natural RAW diet -- are only plagued with a handful of diseases ----- around 40 or so.

So, if you want to loose weight naturally, easily, and maintain optimum health, give up the cooked/processed foods.

You can find many examples of people who’ve gone raw on the internet and you tube. Research it. Here are a few examples .......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXi0jpvxWjs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DWxlNQ0Enc

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgYVsRd6sI8

Special note:

When I speak of all foods eaten raw ..... that also includes the meats, the fish, the fowl, and the animal fats. Especially the animal fats of raw cream, raw butter, raw egg yolks, and raw suet. The more the fats the better.

I understand people may have bias on chi-medicine. There are too many Chi-med who claim to be effective on losing weight in the market. But visiting a Qualified Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor is totally different from taking those ridiculous pills or practices. It is as professional as the wetern doctor or those nutritionist.

You cannot skip all exercises and just rely on the chi-med. Chi-med concerns much abt overall condition. Therefore, proper dining menu and exercise would be highly recommended.

As I had mentioned before, it may bring great effects on someone but slight improvement on others. After all, it's all about personal physical condition. At least there is no harm in trying.

As for the doctor I visited, she named Dr. Veronica Hoi. Fionsha u may check her out on the internet. She has a good reputation and of coz she is qualified.

ive been around the fitness industry for many years and teach kick boxing and taekwon do.

I knew when i noticed this post it would have loads of responses from all people.

The bottom line sorry about the bun!! but most people here agree eat less and exercise!!!! 20-40mins 2-3 time a week. Food side of things reduce slowly or one by one sugar, carbs and fats. I lost 4kg over a 3 month time frame and have maintained this. I also drink green tea after food as help break any fatty stuff and helps with dulling the sugar taste buds.

For people who dont want to/have the opportunity to exercise - what's the general diet plan?

It'd be tough to lose weight without exercise.

Eating more frequently is better than eating three meals. Spreading meals out throughout the entire day is a healthier lifestyle - rather than deluge your body with calories all at once (that then get stored as fat), you steadily and slowly add calories as your body uses them. Bring small containers of food to work - sliced apple, soup, half a sandwich, etc - things you can easily snack on throughout the day as you work.

I don't recommend trying to craft a specific food plan - they are time intensive, exhausting and you'll likely get sick of it. Just steadily decrease sugars, heavy creams, cheeses, oily foods, fried foods etc. Don't all-at-once stop eating those because you will crave them and it'll make you go crazy (and eventually you'll break your diet). Slowly decrease them over time.

There is no easy solution o this...... initially that is. I battled with the yo yo effect of diets and binge eating and drinking for years before I discovered a solution which is simple and requires only discipline, eliminate three things in your diet, these are the followings carbs, which tend to block up your system:

1. BREAD

2. PASTA AND NOODLES

3. RICE

4. POTATOES

Eliminate all refined sugar, and products that contain them, including fruit juices, unless they are freshly squeezed, without additives and in MODERATION.

Eliminate all Dairy, sugar and dairy are essentially toxic to your system.

Your diet should comprise of no more than 30% protein to 70% fruit and veg, and red meat protein should not be consumed more than twice a week. Consume nothing but fruit before midday.

Consume 2 to 3 litres of water daily, water is a fantastic benefit but avoid excessive intake as it can have detrimental consequences.

Alchohol intake should be restricted to 2 - 3 days a week in moderation, and only red or white wine, and the odd spirit, such as cognac. Tea an coffee are fine, but consumed without milk and sugar.

Try to focus on consuming less but foods and beverages of excellent quality, good cuts of meat, good wines, good fresh fruit and veg.

Lastly adopt an exercise regime, at least 3 times a week, also spoil yourself from time to time, once off, once or twice a week, enjoy a dessert, or something you really miss, but in moderation.

It gets easier and easier and the fat falls off. I have followed this for 5 years now and frequently check cholesterol and blood sugar, all remain in a healthy range.

It works for me.

Take an honest look at your eating habits - you may not realize just how much you actually eat during each day. Making simple changes and taking control of what you eat is crucial if you want to lose weight without dieting. Eating sensibly and having a healthy, balanced diet is the healthy way to lose weight naturally. Safe natural weight loss shouldn't mean starvation; depriving yourself of food can have an opposite effect. You can also try some weight loss pills from here http://www.genericmedicationonline.com/index.html

Hi Fionsha,

Not sure if you're still looking for feedback. There is a lot of information here and online - can be very confusing. I'll share what I know.

Paleo diet (fruit / veg / meat / high fat) has changed my life and body constitution with no increase in exercise. I have great books / websites I'd be happy to recommend. It's not complicated, and it's possible to maintain even when traveling / eating out.

Mindfulness practices and psychology are also key factors. Geneen Roth's work is amazing, and you may consider working with someone who does Emotional Freedom Technique. www.focuspec.com (Affordable certified practitioners, including myself - Sarah Breidenbach)

Lastly, saw you're interested in Chinese Medicine and requested a recommendation. Brendt Reynolds is awesome. You can google him for more info.

Hope this helps!
