Does anyone know of a doctor in Hong Kong with experience of diagnosing / treating Lyme Disease?
Unfortunately I had several Tick bites during business trip in the Baltic sea area. There is only one 8 years old thread here to Lyme disease like to ask if somebody can share some more recent news on it.
Thanks

Hi Trebon,
Lyme disease can be tricky to diagnose. There are specific blood tests to be done.
The bacteria that causes Lyme disease will go through phases with low activity and high activity were symptoms will typically flare up.
As a result if the bacteria is dormant it may not appear on blood test, which is why it is often recommended to do several blood tests.
There are various symptoms that can differ a lot from patients to patients and can be severe or quite mild. It really depends from patients to patients.
You can PM me for more information

Hi FlorenceHK,
thank you very much to share your knowledge. Guess you have medical background ?
I agree with you that it is not easy to have a clear diagnose.
Same as the 8 Year old thread here in asiaexpat I come to the conclusion that HK has at present not really the necessary equipment / laboratory nor practical experience to diagnose Lyme Disease. Have checked also Thailand and Philippines but same then HK.
However my first step is the needed of a more clear diagnose. Looks like I found a specialized laboratory in Germany that offer 2 different tests, one is Immunfluorescenc-test ( checks 12 parameter ) second is Immunoblot-test ( checks 6 parameter ) they mention to have a more then 90% clear diagnose ( positiv or negativ ). Compare to standard laboratories which checks only 4 parameter resulting in a 40 - 50% diagnose.
Difficulty I have now is to find a courier service that ships blood sample to Germany, Speed Post and some others deny to forward blood samples. Hopefully will find a solution in the next days, appreciate any advise how to ship blood samples.
