Hi All, I saw a post almost 6 years ago looking into some kind of fecal transplant therapy for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. Some of my friends shared an update with me that this new FMT treatment is availabe through a stool bank called the Asia Microbiota Bank (www.asiabiobank.com).
According to their website: "The Asia Microbiota Bank does not consult with patients directly. We will refer you to a HMT provider within our Registered Clinician Network that can consult with you to determine if this is the right treatment for your situation."
But they do say that you can call or email them at health@asiabiobank.com or +852 3705 3599.
If you end up contacting them, please share your experience, I hope it can help some people out there!

hi,
my husband is suffering from ulcerative colitis-a disease that causes inflammation to the colon. If the disease is active, the patient has bloody stools from 5-15 times per day if serious, diarrhea, abdominal pain, cramps, loss of appetite, weight loss, vomitting etc.
my husband is right now in remission due to taking steroids and another drug called azathioprine prescribed by his Gastro doc. But these drugs cause lots of side effects.
It may be difficult for someone who doesn't know much about this disease to understand what I am trying to ask here. does anyone here suffer from ulcerative colitis? Fecal Transplant is being done for this disease in the U.S.I was wondering if anyone knows any clinics here in hk that can do Fecal transplant for my husband. We talked about this with his GI doc but the doc simply laughed us out of his office by saying it doesnt work. But i have a hope that it can work. even if it doesn't,there wont be anything at lose as fecal transplant wont cause any serious side effects if we have a healthy donor.but these strong drugs cause lots of terrible side effects.so fecal transplant is highly preferable nowadays.
Pls tell me if there is any clinic here in hk that can do it.

I recall, vaguely, about "good bacteria" being processed from human faeces, encapsulated and swallowed by a sufferer.
Thankfully I haven't needed such remedies after having QMH "periscope viewing" up my arse following taking flush-out medical packages to clear the guts of debris.
Nasty polyps (like the TV Infomercials) were found & removed.
I repopulated my guts with "good bacteria" very quickly by eating my Kefir (something like yogurt) - but much better.
Looooong ago :
Some spiel on this product from AX's Stanley Wong - grabbed many months ago.
MILK KEFIR (TIBETAN FUNGUS)
The tuber of the milk kefir looks like a small cauliflower and milk transforms virtually overnight into an aromatic and creamy, yogurt-like drink that contains yeasts and many valuable minerals. The origin of the mysterious kefir is located in the Caucasus or in Tibet, where it has always been one of the most important foods where it is appreciated as a healthy and wholesome dairy product.
Both kefir and yogurt are cultured milk products...
...but they contain different types of beneficial bacteria. Yogurt contains transient beneficial bacteria that keep the digestive system clean and provide food for the friendly bacteria that reside there.
But kefir can actually colonize the intestinal tract, a feat that yogurt cannot match.
Kefir contains several major strains of friendly bacteria not commonly found in yogurt, Lactobacillus Caucasus, Leuconostoc, Acetobacter species, and Streptococcus species.
It also contains beneficial yeasts, such as Saccharomyces kefir and Torula kefir, which dominate, control and eliminate destructive pathogenic yeasts in the body. They do so by penetrating the mucosal lining where unhealthy yeast and bacteria reside, forming a virtual SWAT team that housecleans and strengthens the intestines. Hence, the body becomes more efficient in resisting such pathogens as E. coli and intestinal parasites.
Kefir's active yeast and bacteria provide more nutritive value than yogurt by helping digest the foods that you eat and by keeping the colon environment clean and healthy.
Because the curd size of kefir is smaller than yogurt, it is also easier to digest, which makes it a particularly excellent, nutritious food for babies, the elderly and people experiencing chronic fatigue and digestive disorders.
NOTA BENE :
Now - here's a few of the many FAVORABLE comments from satisfied acquirers! There's never been any UNfavorable responses.....
""Just wanted to thank you for the kefir. It's growing very well, and very fast. My son tolerates the taste well and i hope it will lessen his asthma.""
""Hey, this stuff is good. It only needs a little milk. I mix it with different fruit and it totally takes away the sour. btw, I am not putting it in fridge at all. I found if I put it somewhere warm, it grows and grows.""
""The start of kefir that you gave to us is growing rapidly! We are having a lot of fun learning about it, but mostly drinking it:) Just wanted to thank you again for your generosity. Already noticed an improvement in health in my family. Many thanks!""

If anyone wants some - I have a surplus which I sell for $100 a portion - it has been fed on Jersey Cow milk for months, and it has kept me healthy for many years!

Hi JANDNK. As an alternative to FMT for your colitis, you might like to consider another form of microbiome treatment - helminthic therapy. I have Crohn's disease and have found this treatment a godsend. My Crohn's has been in remission for the last 8 years thanks to it, and it's provided many other health benefits too. The treatment is available worldwide and can be shipped direct to your home.
Everything you need to know about it is explained on the following page and the rest of the site that it appears on.

Best wishes for getting your health back!
PS. The link above seems to be dropping the "IBD" at the end, so takes you to a blank page. If you copy/paste the entire link to your browser, this should work.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies about FMT and other kinds of therapies. Because diseases such as IBD (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease) and IBS are very complicated, it makes sense that there would be many different ways to treat them.
I found some more interesting information on the www.asiabiobank.com website about FMT:
"To date more than 6,000 scientific articles have been published on the GI microbiome and more than 600 have been published related to FMT. Ongoing studies are in place to continue unraveling the intricacies of the microbiota inhabiting the GI tract."
For Ulcerative Colitis, the site quoted this study: http://asiabiobank.com/for-medical-professionals/research/#collapse3 which says there was a 27% cure rate for patients with ulcerative colitis. Pretty amazing for a supposedly "incurable" disease.

The success rate for helminthic therapy in colitis is even more amazing. When Cheng, et al, surveyed patients using HT to treat colitis, they found an average efficacy rate of 91%.

In the Michael Mosley very recent UK TV program, and experimental procedure was to insert a nasal tube down to the stomach and inject "GOOD FECAL Bacteria" straight into the stomach.
Personally I was surprised at this treatment - injecting the "good" fecal solution into the Hydrochloric acid swill in the stomach - but my Kefir suffers that every other day for ~10 years & it is still "Prolonging Active Life".

Regarding the first post on FMT... I visited the site http://asiabiobank.com/ I think in HK the treatment is called HMT, some update I guess. My father has diabetes, which led me on a search for alternate solutions and in a round about way to this forum. Does anyone know if FMT or HMT or whatever it is called, can help diabetics?
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/05/170530122341.htm This is the research that led me to wonder...

I watched - several months ago - another medical program courtesy of TVCHAOSUK.COM that found that the invasive clamping of the vast majority of the stomach ( for Morbid Obesity) had a positive effect of fat people such that they couldn't eat much at a time, so the trigger that they were "full up" was much quicker,
The additional bonus was that the Pancreas was then "auto-kicked into recovery mode" and it COULD hack its reduced demands to produce Insulin, and then it COULD keep the person's blood sugar levels at a MUCH safer level. i.e. They weren't so likely to lose their lower limbs to the surgeon's saw !! Yes, I've watched that operation on TVCHAOSUK.COM too !!!
