Anyone either home quarantined or know of someone who is that has received the SMS with the link to install the HK home quarantine app? I've not received and when I try the help number provided on the paperwork it's just busy. I've tried to find on the gov't websites, but it doesn't provide link just details about it.

Yes I’m having the same problem. My hotel contacted the helpline on Friday and they claim they are overwhelmed with uploading registrants and will be sending an SMS out with the required app sometime later this week. They said we will not be penalized for the time already served prior to activating the app. I suggest getting a letter from your hotel reception attesting that you were indeed registered and stayed in the room the entire stay. Not sure what to suggest if home quarantined sorry

There is an app available in Apple Store under the same “stay home safe” brand however unless HKDOH registers the bracelet it will be impossible to activate.

I have been in touch with the Governement OGCIO who are responsible for managing the StayHomeSafe App and they have given me an email address which is a parallel enquiry channel to the 53943150 hotline and specifically for StayHomeSafe enquiries including help with SMS Texts containing PINs. It is shs@ogcio.gov.hk.
I will see how effective it is, if and when I get the texts for myself and the others in my family. We have received none so far. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. The hotel contacted the DOH again today and they said they will be in touch with me however still nothing 5hrs later. I suspect either the SHS system does not work or they have not successfully implemented it. I’ve served half my quarantine at this point and getting increasingly concerned that my quarantine will not be honored by the China authorities.

Has anyone been able to activate their quarantine bracelet? No one has contacted me as promised and beginning to think the tracking system is completely dysfunctional

After contacting them yesterday my whole family of 3 including myself received the SMS text and after a few retries of the App, got all three activated.
I suggest you keep trying. Dont take the wristband off and stay in the hotel and maybe have the staff check and confirm you are in the room regularly.
I think if you have contacted them and sent emails showing you have made every effort, you should be OK.
Dont go out in case you are caught out with your wristband. You may have seen some getting caught out.
BTW, I dont think you need to worry about the China Authorities if you are staying in HK. You have your quarantine form from the Hong Kong Authorities showing the date you can remove the wristband and as long as you are in your room you cant get into trouble. I do know cases where friends have had a visit from the police....just to check you are there. They know your address and if they suspect they can come and check.
Today they are introducing a new wristband with bluetooth connectivity to the phone as they recognize there are issues with this system which has been rushed into service, but heck, I think they are doing better than most governments in trying to stop idiots gong out when they might be infected from overseas.

Ok great thanks for the update. It’s strange the dept of health asked the hotel management for my contact details and then never contacted me? I assume they’re closed for the night but I will try again tomorrow.
I also asked the hotel for a letter confirming my stay under quarantine however they are reluctant to provide. They will confirm my stay but not as it relates to quarantine....very strange. They’re happy to lock me up for 2 wks and force me to use room service but won’t accommodate my request for a letter. I’m just trying to compile as much documentation as possible to make my case in China for no quarantine
