I suffer from a nut allergy and have been trying to come up with alternatives for antihistimines in the case that I inadvertantly consume a nut.
I've heard and read that Vitamin c is a natural antihistimine (taken in rather large doses) and wonder if anyone has the experience of using Vitamin C as a counter for an allergy attack. It has been noted that it is effective for hay fever sufferers as well as asthma sufferers.

Ascorbic acid (vit C) is also known as a strong allergen. I would be careful recommending this to TREAT allergies.

Got to counter this one - Vitamin C is generally (and in my 26 years of treating allergies it has NEVER been a cause of allergies) not recognised as an allegen, but it does play a very important part in treating allergies, used in the highest doses tolerable. As ever, consult your own doctor first.
