Hi fb, did she help you at the end?
Her name was recommended to me by a friend who had tried many professionals, cheap and expensive in clinic and hospital and finially got her problems solved and depression cured in sessions. Hope you are ok now.

Yes, thanks.
The sessions that I had with her were very, very helpful! She is a great listener with a very gentle soul :). It was as if I had known her already! She is very easy to talk to and very easy to communicate with and I felt that she understood the situation that I am in very well and provided me with some insight and some valuable ideas. Her analysis on my artworks really reflected my deep heart feelings and thinking. I am looking forward to the next session.

Glad to hear that. Did you join the parent-child art club? It's awesome !!! wow as sh e is specialized in reading psychplogical symbols revealed on the picture/artworks and that's really helps me understand my child's inner worlds.

Sorry for replying late as just back from a long trip. Yes, she is our therapist now. In her session with my children, I am learning the symbols revealed on their pictures and through which understand their inner worlds. She is very helpful indeed and deeply in tune with us and thanks !!

m just back from a so-called the 1st international art therapy conference held in shenzhen. It is weird to me that none of the Hong Kong organizers are licensed and registered art therapists. Just few of the presenters are qualified but I had to pay several thousands... I really got a feeling of being cheated by the Chairlady as she asked me to join. Frankly, i don't mind to pay several thousand to attend talks and seminars held by qualified registrated art therapists. However, this one...
Besides, one presenter who got no licence holding a session did make some of us very uncomfortable.
Another thing made us feel very sick was about the nature of this so-called international art therapy conference. We were always urged to donate money for those earthquake suufferers during dinner time.... is it an international conference? How come this conference always emphasizes on money, money and money.

I had heard rumours about art therapy stuff at the conference and realized that there were many psychotherapists or even psychologists claimed themselves as art therapists in Hong Kong. My concerns are:
1. after opening up my box full of traumatized memories, are they qualified enough to close it up then if they received no training before?
2. I think I should pay less for those FAKE art therapists. However, it seems to me that they (the fake art therapists) still charge me full rate.
3. How to check one's registration status ?

Got a clearer pic abt art therapy development in hk after having a chat with my art therapist today. As she received formal and extensive clinical training with a professional licence, i feel safe to work with her from the very beginning till now. Thanks for your recommendation!!

I feel very sorry to hear that....
I think it would be unethical to advertise oneself as an art therapist if they arent trained, just like someone without a law degree would not be able to practise law or someone without getting registration at medical council would not be able to call themselves as doctor.

be aware of scams as there are many so-called 'art therapy certificate programs or workshops' held by not registered/certified art therapist (they are simply social worker or counsellor or psychotherapist) out there, and those FAKE programs are pricey.

Hi MiaMak, my friends and my colleagues are also seeing her now as well. Her schedule fills up quite quickly now and so you may probably would not be able to get an appointment for several days, but she is worth the wait. You can contact her secretary for more information.

MiaMak, I had been seeing Dr. Lee for months. She is a licensed professional and I feel deeply safe and secured insessions and had already made some breakthrough as well. I am happy with who I am now.
Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere I don't belong to.

I enjoy seeing Dr Lee...it's had a profound impact. I don't feel a prisoner of my depression and anxiety any more. I can't tell you how much that means. I'd rather die than go through another dark time like the last one. But the long journey (I know it takes time for me to get things sorted out) with her has given me a new way of being shown a different way of coping with being me.

Dr. Lee and Brian are good as well.

Hi All from the above posts! I am fascinated by your interests in finding a therapist and some insights of your discussions is very helpful and valuable for me; it is just the discussion I have been searching for.
I am currently a trainee psychotherapist studying in London, I am hoping to develop my career in Macau/HK. It seemed to me that I may have very little success in practicing in Macau/HK, due to many people I spoke to believe more in psychiatrist/doctors/psychologists/medications etc; until now after reading the posts, it seems there are possibilities for me to practice in this part of the world.
- I'm wondering whether all of you are in HK? and whether anyone can give me some insight in the field of psychotherapy in Macau or HK?
- I already aware that there are many undergrads or post-grads with psychology degree who claims to be practicing psychotherapy, I'm wondering anyone have experiences with this?
- Also, is there any regulations that protects both the therapist and client in Macau and HK?

why not contact centers or private hospitals in HK instead?

Hi FB,
I'm currently working on it, however, so far, the doctors that I spoke to seems to be very different and often the centres and hospitals approaches with clients different to my approach. Another problem is that it seems all those who work as psychotherapists at the hospital in Macau only have a psychology background; they may have a psychotherapy and counselling module in psychology degree but they haven't been trained in psychotherapy.
This is why this discussion on there caught my attention, I am wondering what is the public view on therapy and whether there are professionals who have had psychotherapy training and practicing in Macau or HK.

Sorry....I have no idea about it as I am not a professional in psychology, but just have interest in knowing about the professional I was seeing qualified or not.
