Advice on medical insurance

We are looking for a reliable, affordable medical insurance company that covers pre-existing conditions such as congenital heart disease in children. It appears that Interglobal Insurance may do so - does anyone have any experience or comments about them? Any other suggestions?

Dear Susiehj

Sorry to hear about your predicament, I am sorry to say you will find it extremely hard to get coverage for a congenital condition such as this unless you are enrolled onto a corporate plan that offers coverage for pre-existing conditions for yourself and dependents. Interglobal will not cover congenital conditions, they do cover certain pre-existing conditions after a 2 year moratorium but not a condition such as this which will likely always be present. The type they would cover would be a physical injury that has healed and is deemed to be unlikely to cause a problem in the forseeable future.

I do know that Nordic Health Insurance will cover congenital conditions diagnosed before the age of 3, up to 3% of the sum insured. If you have a cover with, say, 2 million USD limit, that would be 60,000 per year.

However, I'm not sure whether you have to be born into the cover or not. You should ask a broker to find out. I can put you in touch with someone if you want.

Nordic is also a very good insurance otherwise, with generous cover and low price increases. They also maintain premium for adults at the entry level. I hope you look into it, I'd recommend it highly.
