I have read that it is an immunosuppresant and itis uncertain the effects of this drug on the developing immune system of an infant. It is associated with lymphoma and the FDA has advised against its use with children under 2 and should be used as a second line of treatment only. For this reason I have decided against using it on my child with eczema, even though it supposedly is good an clearing up the surface manifestation of eczema.

I was using Protopic on my son's eczema for a while but stopped after reading about some bad effects it might have in the long run. Now I just this cream from Australia called Medihoney Eczema Cream which works well and is honey based.
