Insurance and haemophilia treatment?

Hi all,

I am heading to HK in 2 weeks for a 2-year job contract. My job comes with medical insurance.

My boyfriend would like to join me for at least half of that time, but he has haemophilia and is unsure of treatment options in HK. Right now, in Britain, the NHS takes care of everything. If he is working (legitimately, granted a visa) should he expect insurance to come with most jobs?

Would I be able to cover him with insurance offered through my job?

If not offered private insurance, is there a public healthcare option that would cover the expensive treatments required of haemophiliacs?

Thanks for any advice; it is quite confusing trying to figure out the state of medicine in hong kong.

Why don't you check with your company to see if your medical insurance covers him... banking/finance jobs usually cover dependents also but not sure if boyfriend can be considered a dependent (might have to do a quicky wedding ;) or else just ask your company
