Does anyone know if there are any long term adverse effects of taking Tuberculosis medicine? I am on it now and and feel I am not my same self. Is that common and for how long?

Yes, there are. You need to discuss this with your doctor. The long term consequences of improperly treating TB includes death, and also infe4cting large numbers of others. So stopping treatment out of fear of side effects is not a good idea.

The current recommendations for treating TB include a number of anti-TB drugs in a c*cktail designed to reduce the chances of resistance developing, and also to ensure that the multi-drug resistant strains are caught and killed. There are side effects, you will experience unwellness, and it would be wise to discuss these in detail with your doctor.

Treatment is measured in months - typically 6-9 months, but a year may be necessary.

Tuberculosis medications can have longterm side effects, some of these can be serious; it is for this reason that patients who take these medications are closely monitored. If you feel unwell taking anti tuberculosis medications, it is important that you follow up with your doctor, as side-effects can be monitored and prevented by altering treatment if needed.

I meant more like long term weakness due to anti TB medicine. Do the drugs make your system weak? I will be taking the meds for 9 months and after that I am thinking about conceiving, do you think it would be wise generally speaking?

Conceiving after treatment is over is fine - wait a good period to get your health back! Conceiving during treatment is not the best idea. Generally speaking, the treatment - once fine-tuned for the side effects - will not result in damage - on the contrary, it will restore health. But that is only the start of the treatment, because you need to get your immune system up to speed, and patently it has not been up to speed recently. So the mercola references are a good place to begin research. Focus on nutrition and supplementation - the key to immune competence.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and support! I am thinking about getting vaccinated but I am not sure which vaccines I already have received and which new ones I should get. Is there any way to determine which vaccines my body already has?

Hi

The effects are reversible, usually due to isoniazid

Cheers

Purefit regarding vaccines,

How old are you and in which country were you born? Where else did you live that you remember perhaps having a vaccine?

I had a lymph node and the lab tests showed I had TB. I thought my immune system would be very weak to have caught it so easily or just about anyone can catch it so easily?
