Hey Guys, just wanted to ask you if anyone has any information about this disease? Is it commun in HK? I have a cat for a month now and I've been feeling not so well, with skin raches, headaches, feeling dizzy, vision blurry, being tired and muscle aches. I know cats are more sensitive to diseases in HK but are we too?
What can I do? ( I saw a dermatologist about the raches and he gave me "eczema" which seems to be their answer to everything when they don't know!
I had eczema before and this doesn't look like it at all!)
Anyone here is some info about the disease I got in internet but if anyone can tell me more I would really appreciate!
Cheers.
Toxoplasmosis ( toxoplasma gondi parasite)
What is it?
Toxoplasmosis is a common disease found in birds and mammals across North America. The infection is caused by a parasite called toxoplasma gondi and affects 10 to 20 out of every 100 people in North America by the time they are adults.
How do people get infected?
All animals and birds can be infected with the toxoplasmosis parasite. The parasite enters the muscles of a bird or animal when it eats raw meat or drinks the milk of another animal that is infected. Cats can also spread the parasite in their faeces. Therefore humans can also become infected with toxoplasmosis when changing a cat litter box or working in an area contaminated with cat faeces.
What are the Symptoms?
Most people who are infected do not show any signs of the disease. Those who do get sick usually have a flu-like illness and may experience fever, sore throat, sore muscles and tiredness. Glands in the neck, armpits or groin can become swollen, but are usually not sore. In some cases the infection can also cause temporary blurred vision or loss of vision. In particular, persons who are pregnant or are experiencing a suppressed immune system due to AIDS, cancer or following organ transplants should follow the advice in this Health File.

Toxoplamsosis is a parasitic infection passed often by cats. Rashes are certainly not part of Toxoplasma infection, and more often than not, glands will be swollen. Indeed an acute infection may cause similar symptoms as flu.
Your cluster of symptoms is not specific for any particular illness. Have you seen a GP to –as a minimum- have a physical check and possibly simple blood screening?
