I've just done root canal on my molar and it cost 6000 HKD .
The dentist recommended a porcelain crown fused with metal including stainless post inside .
Cost is 7000 for a porcelain crown fused with metal and 2500 for a stainless post .
I was wondering this is normal for its kind in HK?
any advice would be highly appreciated.
Thank you.

Muse617 - who are you seeing? I have had several root canals, implants, crowns, etc. But I didn't have the root canals done in HKG. There is another thread from a week or so ago about root canals that may be helpful to you.
I would always go for a US trained dentist here in HKG (I've lived in HKG, Taiwan, US, and Chile so have seen a lot). There are loads of dentists here - some good, some not. It comes down to education and experience. The US trained (certified) dentists are the best b/c their standard of care is US standard and there are gweilo and chinese US trained dentists to choose from. You can always get a 2nd opinion from one of them to compare w/ your current treatment plan.

My husband did his root canal on his molar last year and it was about 2000-2500, a dentist called Julian Sung in Wanchai. I go to a UK trained dental surgeon (Guys Hospital) in Central. She is generlly more expensive but very experienced and is worth the extra spending.
