This is probably not very helpful but FYI,

There is a subspecialty of cardiology that deals with arrythmias. They are called Electrophysiologists.

I have no idea where one is located in the area.

Guess I'm jumping the gun! After one sees a GP, does the GP give the patient one referral only?

If the patient isn't satisfied with the first referral, how does he get a second one?

Thanks in advance for replying.

The whole referral process is essentially set up to ensure that a specialist's time is not wasted. All specialists are after all technically trained as a GP before moving into their chosen specialty.

If the complication is already qualified as of a cardiovascular nature, then I do not see the need for going through the referral process again for the sake of following political protocol which may be an unnecessary cost to the patient.

No, that is not true. A GP is a specialist doctor for the broad range of family practice. A doctor with basic MB ChB after qualification is NOT a GP, although s/he may set up as such. But the quality of such care will be generally miserable.

Isn't it true that all housemen are going through the practicals of a "GP" when they are training in the hospitals?

Some insurance won't cover a specialist unless you have a referral from your GP. I don't know what happens if you want a second referral.
