Canossa Hospital has this sleep study programme, where they try to determine the cause such as Apnea, psychological etc. After consultation you may have to stay there overnight where they will study your breathing pattern etc. You can check it here:

Melatonin is kind of a natural medicine - it's an over-the counter medicine and you don't even need the doctor's prescription. Maybe you should try it first, to break the habit of you waking at the same time every night, before you try more expensive options?

Exercise should do the trick. I would recommend swimming and/or yoga. Sex also good. You can do both these sports if you are not so fit. Yoga may be slightly better as long as you work up a sweat. As your muscles stretch, dopamine will be released which relxes you. Swimming is very refreshing but you will need to do it for at least 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Also, try not to think too much.

It has been said that if women exercise at night time, they will have difficulty sleeping. Apparently it's only women that are affected by this, not men. So try not to exercise too late at night, in case you are one of those women who can't sleep because of this.

Running is pretty "hard-core" exercise. Sorry I don't have any specialist for you but I think the suggestion to try yoga might be better than running. With yoga, you can also practise special breathing exercises... so at night time, perhaps you can try to calm your mind through breathing/meditation etc.

I understand your problem and have been living with sleepless nights for many many years. Sometimes my sleep pattern improves for no specific reason. Usually when the weather changes (like in summer), I may get more sleepless nights. Don't take melatonin if you react badly to it. Evening exercise like brisk walking or swimming and a warm long bath before sleeping helps. Meditative breathing helps too. If you really can't sleep, don't fret, get up and do something boring. I usually look out of the window and see how many flats still have lights on and take comfort that someone in those flats can't sleep too!

Not tried that. I have been prescribed Xanax .25 mg before. Xanax works for me but I've only taken it 2 nights consecutively if I am going through a bad spell since it is addictive. Even if the doctor prescribes for 5 days, I don't take them consecutively. For me, all I need is a one day relief and I can handle another week of sleepless nights. I think you should google side effects of stllnox before you take them.

You can buy sleeping tablets under the counter at most pharmacies. They will help you to get into a regular sleep pattern. I'm not a doctor and some might be horrified at the suggestion, but I gave up on all the quack's expensive psycho-babble and sorted the problem out myself very quickly.

Hi, I think a dietary or lifestyle change might help! Get some exercise to tire yourself out and stay away from alcohol/caffeine and you might sleep better.
