Hi,I had a scan yesterday and a cyst 5cm is on my left ovary, its not a mass but in 2 weeks I have gained 4 kg :(:( even though same healthy diet and exersice routine &7km every other day and weights workout now.Im a very active person so the weight gain is driving me NUTS.I go back to see the doc for a talk but will go see my gyne asap.Has anyone had a cyst with weight gain(in the middle area)I had a smear last June along with a routine scan &no cyst then.
Is surgery the only answer&once removed will it return,or would a hysterectomy be the answer(42 with 6 children&pre menopausal)and when removed did your weight return to normal. Thanks for any feedback.Sarah

I had a 4.5cm x 5cm dermoid cyst removed from my left ovary a few months ago. Didn't have any symptoms at all; no weight gain, no pain, nothing untoward. It was discovered when I had MRI scan for something totally unrelated. Had surgery at Matilda by Dr Joe Chan. He was excellent. Lovely bedside manner, very caring and took lots of time to explain and reassure. Gave out his personal mobile number and returned my text immediately one Friday evening when I had sudden pain. Highly recommend him.

Is the weight gain fluid or fat?? Maybe need to check thyroid function, diabetes etc
Any other symptoms?

Thanks for the replies, not sure but maybe fluid, its all in the stomach area it was pretty flat before(even after 6 kids). My workout at the gym is very good so its really frustrating gaining not losing.
I saw my gyne on Friday and having blood checked the weight gain is probably hormonal,I even felt pregnant a few weeks ago even though Im not.Southward how long did it take to recover from the op?Im very active and with summer coming up want to take the kids swimming,I will get the blood results back Monday and Im not diabetic cos I had it all checked a few months ago, fingers x for an answer soon.
