GP for treating depression

Can anyone recommend a general physician who is experienced and tactful in treating clinical depression? I have tried exercise, herbal treatments and other things and am convinced that I probably need to go on medication. I don't have a good impression of the GP I've been to in the past. I recently resigned from work, so someone who doesn't bill too steep would be best.

I don't have high hopes but I'm in such a rut right now that I really need to do something, before things get much worse. I have always been prone to depression but this recent bout has made it very difficult to function at a time when I really need to kick things into high gear and get my life on track. I think I know what my problems and issues are and what I need to do, but I can't bring myself to action. The thought of seeing a psychiatrist doesn't appeal much to me. I have friends I could probably talk to but I feel my energy draining when I interact with people. I just want to get over this hump and then gradually develop more healthy habits. Something else I've wondered about is the smoking cessation drug Zyban. I'm also trying to give up smoking and the active ingredient in Zyban is the antidepressant Wellbutrin. A friend was once prescribed Zyban and said that it lifted his spirits as well.

Try Dr Wendy Lo in Central. She's a specialist in family medicine, and is great with depression. I've seen her about this problem myself.
