Try taking antihistamines. If you get better you know it's an allergy. Ask a friend or family member to send you some from home.

Yep, I've been sick too. Chest and head, some ear and stomach...at different times. The antihistamine trick is a good one; I had taken one and felt so much better...which led me to believe part of this is allergy. The other part is this weather...so cold and humid at the same time. And the other, I'm told, is the pollution. Still trying to figure it out. Here only two months.

I've heard that your body will gradually get used to the pollutants and all the germs here and adapt accordingly, so once you've been here a bit longer you may find that your resistance grows. Hope that's the case anyway. All the best.

Please try to use air filter, water filter where-ever possible. And if possible, do not live in GZ city. I live in Conghua, about 1 hour of car distance from Tinhe. The air and water quality is great.

I live in Hong Kong and have the same problem. went to the doctors today for some advice but they were pretty useless, told me I had an allergy to the pollution, gave me piriton (chlorpheniramine maleate - which I bought over the counter in the UK before) and told me to deal with it. Nice.
As for the spots that have developed I use Claribal (contains clindamycin phosphate), that has worked wonders in clearing up spots which I have never had here before (despite living here for 20+ years all in all!) and for the ezeama I use "Fungicidan H" (on prescription but pretty sure you can get it over the counter in Asia).
The allergy tabs are alright, at least they stop the irritation spreading to the upper respiritory system and ENT and chest infections developing.
Hope your problem doens't persist for too much - I feel really frustrated by doctors who prescribe to deal with the symptoms and who don't actually investigate the cause...arrrrgh!

It's called the "Hong Kong Crud!" I've been barking for over three years... constant nasal congestion which leads to bronchitis. I take antihistimines plus use an inhaler and nasal spray. It'll go away for awhile, but it always comes back. I think my body is trying to adjust to the "fresh air" here:)
