Trying to get a bit of an idea on the price of braces before I take my daughter to the orthodontist. Don't want to act too shocked when I'm there.

You need to identify an register orthodontist, because many GP is also provide orthodontic treatment.
The fee may range from HK$30000 to 45000 depends on the case.
My son has been seeing an orthodntist in Central and I paid 35000 , he is from U of Washington

Super dad is right. I almost got caught at a self styled local Super dentist who does everything. Go to dental council of HK website for the list of registered Orthodontists. I am seeing a lady Orthodontist from UK at Dr Diestel in Central.PPh# 25222099. BEST of LUCK.

A friend of mine's daughter has just had braces put on somewhere in the Princess(?) Building and it cost them $60,000. I can't believe it could be so much. I have been recommended to one in Jardine House.Dr Mar.

You can try out Bayley and Jackson in Jardine House. The in-house orthodontist is quite good. Look for Dr. Ma

Yes, this is the one I have been told about. Just wondering if anyone knew the approx cost of getting it done. Just don't want to get a massive shock.

I would not suggest getting braces in China. Of course you can always hear success stories from up north, but you haven't heard the ones that are really screwed up. I would recommend Dr Alec Tam , and Dr Tsun Ma both in central.

Thanks,
We have gone with Dr Ma and I am very happy. Was never thinking of going to China to have it done.

They always have the best equipments in China, cos this is the only way they can get money from the government. Straight forward cases, I don't think they will have any problems, the more complicated cases are the ones to watch out. Orthodontics is more than straightening teeth. A lot of patients ended up w joint problem when they get older. We lecture in China all the time and I don't think their dental care is up to par.

Can't comment about Dr Ma, but I would avoid Dr Alec Tam-his charges are absolutely ridiculous! I was quoted $60k for those traditional railtrack braces!! Ended up going to this lovely UK Orthodontist in Central who only charged me $36k

my friend's kids are seeing Dr. Alec Tam and both of their treatments don't cost that high..no way they are $60K...did u include the x-rays fees? I guess it really depends on the case...if they need more work to straighten the teeth..it would cost higher.....Anyway he is really good, according to my friend says...
