Hi Helenann....sympathies to you!

I swear by vitamin B6...dont muck about with B12 or combo B vitamins, just B6 alone. Have seen it I think in Mannings/Watsons .

I agree, it does seem to get worse as time progresses..erk! I just take 1 tablet per day & find that if I stop taking it, the symptoms comeback...have experimented as wasnt sure if I had found the "cure" but now am convinced..Good luck !

If you have a problem obtaining the B6 in Gz, Ill send it to you myself, as feel it will help you immensely..let me know if you cant find it. Just remembered, also saw it in Yue Hwa (sic) Dept store, medicine section...This is a trad. Chinese dept store, it has everything, so maybe theres something similar in Gz. Any probs, let me know & will hunt some out for you here. Good luck!

You can also try Evening Primerose Oil tablets. And you can get it in China (I used to buy them all the time when I lived there).

Omega-3 is good for this as well.

You might also want to get your hormone levels checked. PMT can be caused by an imbalance of them. Should include thyroid, cortisol, testosterone.

helenann>everything might be within "normal" levels but that does not discount an imbalance. Sadly too many doctors just look at the ranges and if you fall in the ranges you're "normal".

A friend advised me of an excellent book that really helped me - and helped me "talk" to my doctor about the problem.

Agree with claire - menstruation is not meant to be painful for any women. Your hormones are probably out of balance in some form. This means your diet needs to be looked at or the toxins in your house i.e. drinking water from smoky plastic bottles. Look up the metabolic typing diet on the web to help you get the right foods into your life. On a metaphysical note menstruation occurs in the second chakra area which relates to the lumbar spine pain you probably have, also to the reptialian reflex feelings of safety (money, house security, tribal association (family, friends, affiliation)and sex (too much, too little or incongruent with religious beliefs)

Usana produces a product called Phytoestrine which is formulated for pre menopause, menopause, and post menopausal women. It works by balancing out your hormones throughout the day and the month (it is not hormone replacement therapy) More information can be found at http://www.usana.com/en/products/hk/optomizers/phyto.shtml

Make sure you click on the supplement facts link as well.

Cost is $225HKD (retail) for 90 tablest (1 months worth). It is not available in China yet, but it is available in HK.

I have started taking it for bouts of sweating while eating, and during the night while sleeping. It seems to have calmed this particular hormonal problem in just the last week, will see how I go with the PMT.

I recommend you to go for TCM, which has proven results for PMT. You can call for 28818267 to get some free inquiry on your problem by a TCM doctor in Quality Chinese Medical Centre. By the way, their web site is www.qcmchk.com

I've noticed more symptoms as I've gotten older (and also of course more symptoms while PREGNANT! clear the room!) I've read that soy (soy milk, tofu) has chemicals that are precursers to estrogens and by adding them to your diet can help with some symptoms. Haven't systematically tried it though. My doc in USA recommended birth control pills generally just to even out all hormonal symptoms, but I haven't researched this. He said BC pills are not an option for women who smoke or drink (increases risk of stroke for that group), but I don't fall in that category.
