My elderly parents are coming to Hong Kong and both struggle with mobility. I wonder if anyone can suggest whether it is possible to hire sit on motorised scooters for them anywhere in HK? Long shot I know :)
Edit: I am based in HK, not sure why its KL here->

Don't think so as they would have to be registered and licensed with teh Transport Department as invalid carriages.

Motorised scooters would not be practical in HK at all, it won't be safe to be used on the roads, as the drivers would not give way to anyone. The streets are too crowded and the motorised scooters would not get on the pavements as they are raised without ramps.
Get real, just ring up Red Cross HK to hire a noraml wheelchair and get someone to push them around!

Thanks activehealth for your knowledgeable and helpful response - I can see I came to the right place for advice.
We actually live in a condo block in Tung Chung. Unlike most of Hong Kong there is full wheelchair access throughout the complex and the nearby shopping centre Citygate.

Activehealth,
not everybody live and works only in the city. Where I live everywhere is handicap froendly with ramps on the foot paths and lifts etc. There are a few handicaped people who drive around on motorized wheel chairs and they have no problems getting around
