dental implant

I live in California but come to Guangdong 1-2 times a year. My number #4 tooth is broken at the gumline and my dentist and an oral sugeon say that I am an excellent candidate for an "instant implant". I can probably get the models and surgical guide. So what I want to know from the community is it less expensive to get work done in HK than in the states as a general rule? And does anyone know of dentists and/or oral surgeons who can do this type of work? Are there any high quality dentists/oral surgeons in the PRC who can do "instant implants". I don't mind taking the "hard sleeper" to Beijing.

Hi there. I'm from hong kong and i am a dentist as well. I'm not practicing in hong kong yet because i'm still waiting for next year's series of examination so i can be a registered dentist in hong kong. Been in here in hong kong for a while. Here are some names of dentist's names, address, and their specialty. Most of them cater foreign patients.

Dear Dorrbell:

If you only come to Asia one or two times per year, its better to have your implant done in the states because the follow-up is very important.

If you have it done in China or HK, who will do the follow up if any complication occurs? It may be difficult to find someone in the States to do the follow up. Who wants to take care of other practitioner's mistakes? Think about it.

I've found HK dental work to be more expensive than the US. Dentists in Korea are slightly better than the US, but not by much.

Agree with above posters about follow up. Both of my parents have had implants done - and the follow up was over a year. My father went to a TOP dentist in CA, and still suffered nerve loss in the front of his mouth - and so when he gets food on his chin, he still can't feel it. Not great...but one of the possible side effects of implants.

At least in the states, if something goes seriously wrong (especially in California) you could join some of those litigious folks and sue.

Dear Dorrbell:

Have the implant done in California. Don't have it done in mainland China! Think about the potential of things that might go wrong and you will have a hard time finding someone in California to pick up the mess other dentist created.
