Hi jellymoon, my beautiful chriropractor in Sydney who I have been with for 10 years, put me onto a friend of his over here. I have not yet been to him (I am very new to HK & have not had time, but am too desperate to go for an adjustment). His name is Barry Decker and he is in 13 Duddell Street, Central - 2973-0353. When we moved to Melbourne, John (chiro in Syd) put me onto his friend in Melbourne & as usual John was spot on with his recommendation. So I have no hesitation in forwarding John's recommendation to you. Tell them John Pontey from Mortdale has recommended. Good Luck!

Hi Jellymoon
I also recommend an Aussie chiro - Dr Heidi Petrick. She works in the Yu To Sang Bldg, 37 Queen's Rd Central and also two mornings a week at the Hong Kong Football Club. (Call the Central clinic on 2234 9668.)
She's very gentle, very precise and very effective. She's kept me on my feet through a difficult pregnancy when it looked at one point like I might be bedridden with sacro-iliac. lower back and hip problems. She also sorted out my husband's mid-back pain and he was very happy with her too.
Anyway, hope that's of use and you can get your back sorted soon.

How much does Dr. Petrick charge for a session?
Thanks.
Please support our advertisers:
If Dr Petrick considers you need on-going treatment, then you can book a package of 12 sessions, costing $350 per session. If you just pay per session, it's $380 each time I think.
There's also an initial consultation fee the first time you see her - I can't remember exactly but I think it's a further $200.

Well, prices have certainly gone up! Be aware that to get a proper adjustment you will need an initial consultation at $650. Then need to get xrays at $650. Followed by another consultation of $600 where 'all going well' you will finally get an adjustment! From there it is $450 a visit.
Quite frankly i think this is a rip off.

Paramount is great for me, since I am always in a rush and appointments can be changed and schedule via e-mail.

wow, hard to believe expat would fall for chiropractors. Go to a real dr. OSTEOPATH

I also highly recommend Dr. Heidi Petrick. I've been seeing her for three months now as (I've got major probs with my spine) and treatments have helped immensely. She is gentle, knowledgeable, and only gives adjustments where needed.
The xrays are important so that any injuries etc can be detected before any spinal adjustments can be made. I went for my first appointment not knowing I had a neck injury until it showed up in the xray! I would think it scary if a chiropractor didn't ask for xrays just to make sure.
My husband is also seeing her and is finally pain free after 20 years of back and hip pain.
There are many techniques a chiropractor can use and Heidi also incorporates pressure point therapy as part of treatment.
I think both Chiropractors and Osteopaths offer great healing benefits - its all down to the individual doctor and your particular injury.

I second angeluv, I have seen Dr. Heidi Petrick for the last 18 months and cannot praise her enough. Competent, compassionate and caring.

@righto - I'm guessing you're American as my American friends tend to be quite cynical about chiro's, whereas those who've actually tried them like them. It's an old practice that would have long been proved ineffective if that were the case.

Certainly do not wish everyone reading, that being able to overcome so many things
is really possible.(Its really possible,to do some things, effectively, considering your
condition and circumstances. Being Legally handicapped with a Bad Back, and many
pains, and siatic nerve problems. Not being able to walk at times, not sleeping well.
taking a pain pill now and then. (No medical in Guangzhou, and China) Walking is a
sure fire method to cure your aches and pains,of back pain.Unfortunately, for me,its
more than twenty years since pain is part of my life. Sometimes, you must do some
thinking for yourself, and how to solve the pain problems. You know yourself better
than your doctor. You can try to explain about where the pain is,and how bad,and
the doctors will listen, So for the heck of it,try to do some experiments to help your
self. The back problem besides physical,is also a Mind experience.Get your depre
ssion and Self Esteem in order, and decide to correct a few things you are doing wh
ich cause the pain, and change that where you find a new way to do it,and the result
is less pain, and maybe no pain. Even a few weeks ago,I could not walk, without no
serious pains in my legs.I take some pain medication,of 500 mg and take no more
and force myself to walk.My feet are swelled,as I had three back surgeies in thirty
days.(nothing would heal correctly) Living without pain medication, except when re
ally needed,is a great result for me. Now I can again walk, very good, have lost up
to four pounds for four weeks or so,and now again feel great, until the pain cycle
returns, about every three weeks or so. Again, this works for me. Pain is not a prob
lem, when you learn how to live with it.

Try google David Cosman if you can bear with his temper. He is among the BEST in town. He sorted out my 10-years migraine in 2 or 3 treatments. I maybe forced to listen to his bad jokes, but I would recommend him with no doubt.

I went to see this chiropractor not long ago, she's from New Zealand. Saw her for a couple of sessions an hour each time and she sorted my back pain which i had been trying to deal with for over ten years.
I was skeptical in the begining but after the initial session I felt a significant improvement. I've seen a couple of posting about her on this forum that's how I found her and I had to add on to it because I honestly was and still am very impressed by her. Thank you Dr Cherisse @ Holistic Central

Doctors of Chiropractic in HK must be registered with the HK government health dept (Chiropractic Council). The registration is strict. www.hkca.org has a listing of registered chiropractic doctors in HK.
Chiropractors are both qualified doctors and physical therapists, with special expertise in spinal problems ranging from back pain and headaches to sciatica.
Manipulation (adjustment) technique is not a weekend seminar thing.
Chiropractors are primary care doctors, and are highly educated; from diagnosis to advanced treatments, plus knowing when to refer to a medical doctor or other health care provider if medical drugs or surgery might be indicated.
Thanks to Asiaxpat for this forum.
