We have recently moved to HK with our 6mth son, whom suffers from eczema. Unfortunately this has got considerably worse in the heat.

Could anyone recommend a Paediatric Dermatologist?

Thanks

try posting in moms and dads - quite a few moms there have children with eczema and can point you in the right direction.

I looked for one a few years ago and it seems this speciality doesn't exist in HK (at least not back then). I was recommended by my pediatrician to Dr Ellis Hon at Prince of Wales who is a pediatrician with an interest in dermatology. Hope that helps.

At the moment I keep it under control by:-

BATHTIME

- Bath once a day in Oilatum

- Pat dry

- Rub Aveeno Cream - all over (not face)

- Rub Emollient 50 + Liquid Paraffin on top of aveeno cream - all over (not face)

- Face - DiproBase Cream Emollient

EVERY CHANGE + WHENEVER I THINK ABOUT IT

- Apply Emollient 50 + Liquid Paraffin all over the body (not face)

- DiproBase Cream Emollient on face

BAD DAYS WHEN SKIN FLARES UP

- Bath in Oilatum

- Apply Egocort Cream 1% on red/flared patches - treat for 3days, ONCE A DAY (DO NOT USE FOR MORE THAN 3 DAYS IN A ROW - THIS WILL THIN YOUR CHILDS SKIN)

- Emollient 50 + Liquid Parrafin over whole body including over treated areas (not face)

- DiproBase Cream Emollient on face

So far this seems to keep it under control. I have taken bits of information from various sources ie. Dr, Health visitors etc.

I have also recently read about a new product on the market called 'Protopic' which is the first non-steroidal therapy for Atopic Eczema - I am calling my Dr tomorrow to find out how I can get some to try on Henry. I will let you know how it goes.

I hope this helps - any tips, send my way :0)

Thanks

We go to Dr. Helen Chan Rm 1602A Central Building

No. 1 Pedder Street, Central, HK +85225222302

She was able to treat my son's Eczema with a combination of the following therapies:

1) Skin Test - avoiding allergens including food and some soap

2) Bath Oil which we use at night time

3) Emollient Natural which we use at day time

Worked for us
