Anxiety medication

This is all new to me but can I get anxiety medication such as beta blockers from my general practitioner or do I need to go and see a specialist such as a clinical psychologist?

Your gp should be able to prescribe them, but it would depend on their assessment of your condition. They may refer you to a psychiatrist for further assessment first, especially when you are starting out on medication. Clinical psychologist really shouldn't have anything to do with drugs at all - certainly not prescribing them as they are not qualified to do so
